When we pull a Butter/Permission to Dance, i.e. send Slvt! to #1 for exactly one week while Cruel Summer freefalls then what

Spoiler

No shade at all lol just a funny hypothetical

this is her Loud -> Talk That Talk moment. i really hope there's some polished bangers on 1989. no flop vault singles.

it's honestly kind of ridiculous that Taylor is repeaking so high 17 years into her career, it's so fun to watch. next week is going to be a ride

A 1989 single isn't going to be blocked :rip: cs had a lot of sales from the last week since she released the mixes late and the had the movie as well, 1989 is already at a million in pre orders and has huge hype so I don't see how the single wouldn't get the #1. (ICSY wasn't #1 material sadly as good of a song it is)

i’m talking about Cheers peaking on billboard the same week that We Found Love was released. the eras were right on top of each other.

Cheers wasn't even that big and it was from her current and most recent era.

Whether 1989 TV gets a #1 or not is up to her. ICSY didn't have radio or playlisting, just a music video and it still got to #5

11th week at #1 on pop radio happening or not?

Exactly. I bet I Can See You would've even had a shot if she wanted to pull stunts (remixes, CD singles).

x3,

Everyone is just making assumptions that "Sl*t" will be the song that gets a video, no one knows if that's the track she's really promoting. Second, CS is still riding hot, and will be receiving around 200-240 points by the release of 1989 TV (more than likely it will be #1). Also I highly doubt any of the 1989 TV songs will be fully promoted as radio singles.

She has promoted a radio single from every single TV, except SN because Cruel Summer was taking off at the same time. It would be extremely surprising if 1989 TV does not have a radio + TTH single

I'm sure radios will play whatever song she decided to make a video, but idk if that will be like a huge smash. None of the TV singles were huge successes.

I'm here for whatever tay decides to give us x

ATW 10MV was a huge success, even though it was never going to get significant radio airplay. MIAB did okay numbers on pop radio as well considering how awful it is. I Can See You even got decent pop spins despite never being sent to radio. She is coming off her best radio stretch in a long time, if she sends a normal length track to radio (which she almost 100% will) it will go Top 10 on pop radio off of goodwill alone even if it is awful
