silently praying it somehow holds up on radio until Oct 13 and the film boosts the song enough for a #1

Streaming in US is the biggest reason it's not challenging for #2 or #1 peak

It simply needs a boost where streams are 1.7-1.9m daily in US

Where's the Twitter to crowdfund streaming farms

#1 in POP again and still around 5M updates, this is crazy. This will probably be very stable until the movie comes out and then will receive another boost. This is on track to be her biggest hit ever. It is so nice to see talent winning even 4 years later :heart2:

don't wanna jinx it but i legit think it has a shot at repeaking on the H100 during the Eras Tour film premiere week

I'm still thinking about the frequent meldowns/negativity about the song's underperformance and how it was going to plummet on charts after summer because it's apparently a summer song and only smashing because of that. I don't feel like going back to quote but where are those people now?  Some of y'all need to shut up and let the charts expert like simon talk. :eatpopcorn:

cruel summer, the insane organic smash  that you are :clap3:

Drake is releasing his album a week before the film premiere

And now the only threat is Barbie World, but that's too far back (and I think there are still a few pop stations that will be hesitant to play a full on hip hop song :gaycat4:

Longest female #1 pop hits 2020s

10 flowers

7 easy on me

7 positions

7 about damn time

Interesting.

8 weeks would make it the second longest since 2012. So basically the streaming era.

Like this is making me even more pissed… if it wasn’t for the payola’d garbage, it would have already surpassed all of these and on it’s way to stomp that tragic cover :biblio:

So the songs will be out of the Top 10 when her movie premieres

The way it's possible for Cruel Summer to reach the same number of weeks at #1 on pop radio as We Found ******* Love, one of the biggest songs of last decade, is insane :deadbanana4:

Every single post in this thread makes me want to develop a time machine so I could go back and tell myself that things would all work out in March of 2020 as The Man bombed into oblivion :gaycat7:

The real kii is that The Man is actually a decent hit with very good recurrent streams even by her standards now :dies: even though it still doesn't crack the Top 200 of her discography

For radio stats people, how rare is it for songs to repeak at no 1 on pop radio? This is so cool.

It happens more frequently these days as natural hits get passed by label-pushed hits and then rebound after (like Cruel Summer and Vampire/DTN), but other examples from this year include Kill Bill muscling in a week in the middle of Flowers' run, and Calm Down and Sure Thing trading places at #1 for a few weeks. Last year, Lil Nas X's That's What I Want was interrupted by Bieber's Ghost and Gayle's ABCDEFU, and in 2021, Industry Baby was able to sneak in a week in the middle of Stay's 13 weeks at #1.
