CS will be her biggest global hit despite being #3 :bird:

It will end up being her biggest song on Spotify but Shake It Off and Blank Space will forever remain her 2 biggest globals songs i think.. much bigger peaks and cant ignore the 3 billion+ streams on YT and digital sales. Also they werent on spotify for over 2.5 years, they would be at 2 billion on there

That said Cruel Summer will end up in her top 5 biggest hits

Let's be real it's well on track to become her biggest hit (or at least very close). I find it incredible that it just rose organically 4 years later because people were floored by its Eras Tour performance.

She has never had the #1 spot closer than 50 points and we still have to go through whining in this thread everyday. It would have gone #1 if the Oliver guy didn't exist, but he appeared out of the blue, he built a huge gap and the race was over. Nothing to do, specially now that website sales don't count. Move on already, you are fans of an artist who is about to have the biggest tour of all time, the biggest sales year of the SoundScan era (1991-) and on path to become the most streamed artist of all time on Spotify and you are throwing tantrums about a #1 that sadly never was close.

Clock em :ahh: she never cared when she had to, unless it’s for some petty race (drake / rihanna) or unexpected competition (OTR / Mariah) and we love her for it

And I encourage that behviour, she should compete for #1, that's her job. But in this case there was no competition. 50 points are 50k sales or around 7.5M streams. You don't close this gap with a cheap version on iTunes.

This has done so well. It's not a #1 single though that's obvious.

To put things in perspective, not even Style or Wildest Dreams reached the top of the charts during her previous commercial peak :'(

I wonder if the team decided not to push CS because they figured that the GP could use a break from Taylormania before they are exposed to even more media coverage when 1989TV is released

Not blaming the fans since getting 50k iTunes sales for a 4 year old song is impossible even for BTS fans, but in the couple of days that Cruel Summer was competing against Fast Car it didn't even reach the Top 3 on iTunes...

The fact it's going up WW despite going down in the US. Beating the local allegation like no other. :clap3:

A bit disappointed to see it's constantly going down on pop radio though. I hope it can stabilize for a long time there.

That’s mainly because all the most dedicated fans (or at least the top 50k of them) already own Lover on ITunes and thus were unable to buy the one version of Cruel Summer again on the platform. Just a single version available to purchase on digital platforms could maybe do it.

A remix would give her the #1

It doesn't even have to be a remix with another artist. It could be just a random remix

Her not doing anything besides a discount is really weird considering the 8 Anti-hero remixes for a song that was already #1  :skull:

If she really wanted that #1 she could just make 50k CDs really fast and it will sellout in a couple hours  and then there is also remixes, video(s) etc
Its just a bit sad that she usually is really good at pushing her songs/make sure she secures the #1 (see cardigan, willow, ATW, AH..) and now she doesnt care. I mean sure she is busy on tour but someone on her team should see this opportunity and come up with something quick

Anyways atleast this is a hit with longevity
