Green Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Drake has been very frontloaded with his last #1's. She could have a chance even a week after Drake releases I don't think something is coming the current tracking week because she would have released it last friday

Agreed that Afterglow is a correct 4th single choice! 3

Agreed that Afterglow is a correct 4th single choice! i know what you mean tbh. Paper Rings does sound a little subdued for a single but I think Taylor wanted to go a little mayo for the era so it would have been a easy and smooth sort of intro imo. The sound is very sugar pop mixed with Avril Lavign old school pop rock in a way which has seen a resurgence recently thanks to artists like Olivia Rodrigo so I genuinely think it may have had a chance of being a proper and easy hit as a lead! It sounds easy on radio too! I heard it played once when the album was first released and it sounded great on radio tbh! Cruel Summer deff sounds like a mega smash but for some reason I agree with others about it possibly not being the mega hit it is now if it was released back then. Something about it sounded a little off back in 2019 but now it just fits with everything else on radio hence why it is smashing on the format! Afterglow though would have been a perfect 4th single! always wondered why they went with The Man which is another uptempo when Afterglow would have been the perfect midtempo song to end the era on and sounded a bit like that Camila song (Never Be The Same) which did really well back around that time

Ms. Togekiss Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Its chances are pretty much over, right? Too bad it didn’t get to peak at #2
Squall Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 (edited) Taylor Nation is so useless, they couldn’t even release a single version of the song on iTunes they are completely lost when they have to promote something that isn’t overpriced ugly merch Edited August 21, 2023 by Squall 1

Maroonx Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 I gave up on her team doing anything for this… but hey, I must say it exceeded my expectations on how well it did!!! So I am happy!!!
swiftawaywithme Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Thank you Republic for making this a single. Seems like Taylor never cared to do anything with one of her best songs. An organic #3 smash is what we will say in the future, but for now it's still a little bittersweet.
