More Than A Melody Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 1. There's video of them mouthing "I love you" to each other on stage. I posted it on one of the million threads about this, also, he was seen hanging out with like, her dad and BFFs, and there's video of Gigi being all "aww" over him when Taylor was singing Lover. Plus her saying that she was the happiest she'd ever been and clarifying that it was "in all aspects of her life." I don't care how much they backpedal this relationship, she was all in (for whatever reason) 2. No, I don't think she cared about the podcast or anything else, really. She's known him for a decade and all of these things were publicly available and she has the resources to do a thorough background check if she wants to. She didn't care at all 3. I do think she cares about the backlash. How many songs about her haters has she written? She did an entire era about her "reputation" over her first big controversy not that long ago and consciously stepped away from the spotlight, to the degree of getting into suitcases to avoid paparazzi. I think she's someone who would admit herself that she cares deeply about how she's perceived, so despite not caring herself about what he'd said and done in the past, and despite the criticism being very limited to online chatter, I do think it bothered her A LOT that people were coming for her. They tried with the fluff pieces and trying to use the misogyny angle, it heavily backfired, so she pulled the plug 4. All the other articles are a mixture of things. On one hand, I think it's her team trying to find the angle to make her look good. I think if they admitted that it was because of the backlash, then she'd risk people coming for her because "they knew each other for 10 years, so she only cares that she's called out". Plus, I don't think they had any issues in the relationship itself, so whatever they were feeling before is still there, and she's probably trying to hedge if she can go back to him in the future and have things calm down. The other articles are pure clickbait I honestly don't know why I typed all that. I don't care that much tbh. She can do whatever she wants with her life and career. I just don't want to see her fans coming to that man's defense anymore. So whatever happens that can accomplish that, I'm all for it
naval23 Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 is this supposed to be PR? Because clarifying it wasn't from the Ice Spice controversy and about being unable to meet and pretending you never were in a relationship makes it worse... Tay gurl

It's irrelevant for Taylor and her stans given she's no longer with him, but what it WILL continue to color and affect is The 1975's output and coverage of any of their upcoming material going forward. THAT is where Matty's allies are trying to get traction and take back the narrative. It won't work, imho. Exactly. They could be those nasty podcast friends who said all those nasty shits about Ice Spice and Taylor and her mom in the first place. I'm sure they are loving all these windfall clouts and will talk trash about her soon enough.
slw84 Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 Yes this is actually not helping. I think someone has it out for Taylor to neutralize her PR by adding confusion.
