Bonnie McKee - "SLAY"

She played a bit of Don’t Get Mad Get Famous earlier, confirmed album cut. Right Now won’t be on the album bc it’s too expensive.

We already know this from the VHS tapes pic she teased last year but Forever 21, Hot City and Everything But You are confirmed to be on the album again.

Probably bc Luke produced that one. He must’ve made it really expensive to buy the rights back :eli:

Do we know if the VHS tapes are the only ones to be featured? Or will there be more?

bought on iTunes to support our american girl, streaming on spotify, getting shivers :weeps: how did the executives think this would NOT be a hit? it's so anthemic, i'm sure with the right promo, it could've been huge, it definitely sounds like sth perry would've released when she was still churning out hits.. it still sounds fresh today regardless :heart2: can't wait for the album, will there be vinyls?

C'MON EVERYBODY LET'S GO  wasn't there a S L A Y spelling in the post-chorus or am i dreaming?

Alright, it still feels surreal we're finally able to (properly) listen to this and I'll try to be as objective as possible regarding the whole situation surrounding her career.

It was tough to accept the album was not coming out anymore back in the day as I genuinely worshipped American Girl and the rest of the tracks she performed live throughout that time.

I believe releasing the album now could represent something quite interesting in today's music scene since unlike the early 10s, nobody is properly pursuing the euphoric and extra rich dance sound that belongs to those years (there are only a couple of indie attempts).

With some support, Bonnie could genuinely build her niche and start a movement. Also thanks to TikTok's obsession with nostalgia, the late 00s-Early 10s could become the new 80s, they most likely will tbh. We just need a proper spark to start the fire.

Agree with everything here and I'm SO READY for her to bring 10's pop back, American Girrrrrrl still SCALPS me

It’s still there, but just tacked onto the end of the song as a lil outro (it’s also in the intro). Imo that works much better. Before it felt like the chorus was way too over-extended.

can't wait for Hot City's official release :duca:

The "firebirds" lyric is godawful, but I get why and appreciate her decision to change it up so it wasn't basically just a new mix of the version we've all heard. Her resurrecting the 1999 lyric is kinda cute, and I wish this was the only change to the chorus.

Hopefully the other songs aren't changed too much lyrically because honestly most of them are pop perfection as-is. I think "I Wanna ******* Call You" especially is the kinda song where it's so important to get the tone and charisma just right for it not to sound corny and cringe (see Taylor's re-recording of WANEGBT vs. the original).

Considering the fact Love Spell is being reworked and isn't on the VHS tapes, there'll be surely more than what we saw on them
