respectable critical take!

Thank you. I tried to be objective, and I'll probably always have a soft spot for Nicki's music.

While me and @Click Clack have been playfully throwing shady volleys back and forth the last few months, I can honestly say I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised amidst all the mess with the rollout. Still have hope that her CLASSIC album is in the works, but maybe it will take a little more time.

oh wow, haven't even finished it yet but this is definitely one of my favorite albums of the year  I honestly didn't like the singles sans SFG but every album track SLAPS? this sounds like a proper follow-up to TPP, my expectations were 0 and she delivered an amazing project

RNB is the only song that moved me :skull:

Oh hello Last Time I Saw You.

I forgot you existed and haven't heard you since your release, last time I saw you indeed.

Pink Friday 2

It's finally here! Long post so putting it in spoilers for the initial listen thoughts.

Are You Gone Already

I won't lie, I cried. I had a feeling it would be about papa bear. I'm happy she's a mom, she's truly always wanted this. It's a cute lullaby.

Barbie Dangerous

"These rap bihes you like is my sons." A cute track, I like the 3-bit rhymes scheme. I get "grower" vibes from this one.

FTCU

I didn't get into it till the 2nd verse, that was when it hit for me. First bey, now her. The gay lingo is hurting me.

Beep Beep

The song she played a while back. It's good. So she made it an interlude i see.

Fallin4U

I like this one too.

"These bihes gotta shake their ass to show sex appeal" indeed.

The line about using the barbs was in this one I see.

Let Me Calm Down

I remember seeing several barbs wanting a jcole collab to happen. I personally never cared for that dude so I hope they enjoyed it.

I liked Cole's verse.

RNB

I hope barbs apologize to that man(Tate) for the lashings they gave him. The song was cute, a nice lil vibe.

Pink Birthday

This was okay but I won't be listening to it on it's own.

Needle

Felt like this was Drake's song that he gave her.

"It gave nothing *****" made me cackle.

I won't be listening to this on it's own either, it's cute but not something I needed, you know? It's not my type of chill song.

I like the beat a lot though.

Cowgirl

This is definitely too poppy for my taste. It's camp though, so I didn't mind it.

Reminds me of a 2000s cafe song.

Everybody

I did not expect a goddamn lil uzi collab. She truly does love that boy.

This is mad ballroom, clubby, was not expecting that at all.

This is for the bent wrist gurlies. Sickening bop.

Again not for me but I see who it's for. Again, campy af.

Is this uzi's coming out song? Asdfghjkl

Big Difference

Now, this dreaded girl.

The VMAs gave us irl energy so this track had a lot to live up to.

The 2nd halve went UP. Yeah, it's a good move, also the slick sample.

She killed it. A standout.

Red Ruby Da Sleeze

The GURL haself, had to listen in full, you don't cut the national anthem short, do you?!

Forward From Trini

She loves skillibeng too I see.

I checked out of dancehall years ago. Nicki, please.

She never upsets me when she dips into her dancehall bag, she's better than drake at it.

The papa shoutout at the end was cute.

I liked this but I wouldn't listen to it on my own accord either. It might catch on with the island crew, idk.

Pink Friday Girls

Is this the superbass tribute? It's cute but not stepping to superbass at all. I like it though.

Girls just wanna have fun but clubby. She keeps the theme of the album alive and I like that.

Super Freaky Girl

Still love the grand madame of her number 1(gag!) songs.

Bahm Bahm

Still love bahm bahm as well. A certified bop.

My Life Another good track, pretty true to form. Nicki isn't the type of bih to complain or cry, except on a beats interview(asdfghjkl.)

It's nice but I wouldn't listen to it on my own either.

Nicki Hendrix

Future is TRASH, I'm sorry. He's almost always a waste near her.

This is no Sir, this a, "no, sir."

She also played some of this one before.

Nicki's part was okay.

Blessings

Nicki loves her some Tasha.

A holy washing over after that previous track, praise jesus! Won't he do it?!

Last Time I Saw You

I'll remain one of the few who don't hate this song, lol. I like it and I'm standing by it.

Yes! Including the "starlight, starbright" part! Who gon' check me?!

Just The Memories

Another true to form track.

I know it wasn't supposed to be funny but I cackled at a bih catching her from behind, missing.in.action girl still never been the 1st to do anything, huh?

This was definitely nicki's most cohesive album, hands down. She promised a few bops and delivered. I didn't get exactly what I wanted but I am satisfied.

The tracks that are being kept by me would be:

Beep Beep

Big Difference

Red Ruby Da Sleeze

Fallin4U

Let Me Calm Down

Forward From Trini

Pink Friday Girls

Super Freaky Girl

Bahm Bahm

My Life

Blessings

Last Time I Saw You

Just The Memories

So a pretty solid body. Happy Birthday Nicki.

This lady's lack of originality is horrible. She puts her horrible voice over the instrumental of past hits and that's it.

her entire career is based on that

My Final Thoughts?

This album is what Queen Radio: Volume 1 should've been ideally: a playlist of unreleased songs both new and old that were left on the cutting-room-floor from previous projects, with a few cult-classic loosies thrown in like Megatron, Big Barbie, Remember Me, Cap Backwards, Yikes, Do We Have A Problem, Bussin, Regret In Your Tears, Red Ruby, Super Freaky Girl, Last Time I Saw You, No Frauds, and We Go Up. That's a hit 40-track compilation project right there.

Then she could've gone back to the drawing board and started from scratch, because nothing here met the level I expected her to reach, in terms of writing, samples, or overall production value. I expected cohesion.

J. Cole was a BIG get (finally!), and it was nice to see Drake on the tracklist, but there were no jaw-dropping moments. I expected Kendrick, Ariana, Bey/Rih, Taylor, Lauryn Hill, and maybe even Jay-Z & Adele.

The careless sampling irked me the most, and reminded me of Coi Leray's last album, especially with that Billie record.

Somehow that "Pink Friday Girls" record reminded me of this cheesy gem:

  Reveal hidden contents

I guess LLC and Chun Swae / Chun Li will remain her most recent, five-star amazing songs.

Until next time.

Tea, the samples would have lent itself well to the radio theme too.
