Hmm… cautiously optimistic but Atlantic is not one of my fav majors at all, only marginally better than RCA. We’ll see

Youtube Ricky Reed... hes literally one of the BEST in this industry... hes the total opposite of creative control, he did a lot of work on the Twenty One Pilots Blurryface record and all the tracks he worked on are FAR from commercial... this man gets it, he's really here for the music and art of things, and hes VERSATILE AS **** as a producer

21 Pilots is bad. I hope Tinashe doesn’t work with him at all, tbh. Lizzo, Kesha, Halsey, Camila Cabello? I’m gonna need Tinashe to stay FAR away from this flavor of production style actually. :rip:

She’s not signed to Atlantic, though. There’s a difference between being on Atlantic and being signed Nice Life.

yeah, cuz it seems like all their acts are not under an atlantic joint venture, and her sharing an ffm.to link (usually used by indie labels and artitst) instead of lnk.to (which all the majors use) makes me think she's solely under nice life and not atlantic

There is not an impressive list of acts on Nice Life. It’s actually maybe worse than being signed to Atlantic. Depends on how you look at it, but I’m not thrilled either way so far. Hope I’m wrong.

I think the user meant James Blake, Tinashe mentioned several times as her dream collab (+ Andre 3000).

I mean, if this is her decision, then awesome. But I'm more in favour of her remaining independent.

As long as the contrat still give her 100% of the control, I'm okay with it

How do we know if she’s even signed? What if nice life is just distributing this era?

Because Nice Life is not a fully operating label and distributes its artists through ‘real’ labels like Atlantic. Just like TDE fo example.

Well tinashe create her own music. The album was mostly done before signing. They are just helping with funding and distributing the project. We all know tinashe executive produces, write, and A&R her projects so she is good.

why did that poster make it seem like all the people he listed made the same sounding music or something :rip: wtf, if anything those are all artists that actually do get support and budget.

the word of today is budget

Guys if it is a distribution deal with Atlantic/Warner will she get the same/similar support from the label? What is the expectation ?

If they do provide her with a nice budget and do their job, she will be good. She will be fine as long she has the funds and access to most/all of their resources and influences/connections. Rocnation is still her management company. Y’all can say a lot about rocnation but simone/Rocnation has done a great job with her especially since she was 100% independent. They accomplished a lot for an independent act. Now she have a lot more resources, tools, and access than ever has before.

I am not (I hope no-one truly are) expecting her to megasmash and be an it popgirl. All I am expecting is better role out and greater access to larger audiences and industry spaces.

In that case, yes! That would be a gorgeous collab.

manifesting that if she is signed to them that the parent label isn’t going to be atlantic/warner. I would hope she knows enough to know that that’s not the right route but i trust her

Does this new deal potentially come with her mixtapes finally getting uploaded to streaming? She did say that would only happen if she got signed to a new label.

She said it was one of her requirements if she was ever going to sign to a label again. But things can change so we won’t know until she says.

It was a relatively small cost for a label though from what she said so I would be surprised if they weren’t a part of the new deal.

What would recommend and why

It's kinda hard to know right now if Warner or Atlantic will have any input on her record deal, based on the credits from their current signees:

Nice Life Recording Company:

  • Estevie
  • Junior Mesa
  • Ricky Reed
  • St. Panther

Nice Life Recording and Atlantic Recording Corporation:

  • The Marías
  • Lizzo

Nice Life Recording Company, under exclusive licence to Warner Records, Inc.:

  • John-Robert

And knowing Tinashe and her current career moment, she probably will keep masters control so it will be more like: Tinashe Music Inc., under exclusive licence to Nice Life Recording Company.
