Harrier Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Eh, if this was me I would think I was getting scammed. The customer went a bit far in their reaction but what did the driver expect, it would have come across like he was holding the food hostage for gas money
TheCheshireCat Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Yeah I'd think I was getting scammed lol. Also, story time: once I was IN an Uber (solo) and the middle age man who was driving was telling me howt he just spent the evening at the casino this was his last $10 and he hoped he had enough gas to get me home. It was so uncomfortable.
MotoPapi Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 So unprofessional I would have done the same and requested a refund. If he was out of money to get gas, he was probably going thru my food to eat a little bit smh. You order out because you don’t want to stress out about and the driver made this situation stressful for the client. Uber eats needs to compensate her on top of refunding her.
Danny789 Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 (edited) I used to deliver and I wouldn’t ask for gas money, but some of you are acting like the driver gets everything you paid the app. They’re getting like $1-5 a delivery on average. Maybe he thought he could make 1 delivery so he could put more gas in after. Edited June 1, 2023 by Danny789
Moloko Plus Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Of course everyone on Twitter running to defend the driver absolute insanity

His JOB is to deliver the food, they paid for the delivery and a tip. They do not also pay his gas One of the dumbest users on this site. I will gladly take the WP. I’m convinced they’re a troll at this point as they post the most outlandish things constantly. UberEats is available all over the world, but I assume their padded cell doesn’t do deliveries?
Cheers Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 30k likes defending the Uber driver holy ****. This is the world we live in. People love victimizing others JESUS. 1 1
Darius Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I'd definitely think it was a scam But I would've just canceled my order and made another one. It's not THAT deep
arceus Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 the customer sounds like a snub. I hope Uber suspends his account
CaptainMusic Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Uber driver is a clown, the fact that people on Twitter are defending him 1
cockatoo Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Very weird request, I definitely would've blocked his number and asked Uber for my money back. However, calling the police is a bit ridiculous
May Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 americas food delivery services are OUT OF CONTROL in the uk, you go on the app, you pay for the food (no tipping), there might be a £1 delivery fee, driver knocks on your door, you take the food. boom. done. why is it so common in america for drivers to be texting their customers? that very rarely happens here sorry but i use delivery so that i don’t have the stress of having to buy ingredients and cook for that night.. i don’t need the stress of having to send the driver GAS MONEY then the anxiety of wondering if i was just scammed.
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted June 1, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted June 1, 2023 Should the driver asked for gas money? No. If they did not have the money to deliver that food, they shouldn't have approved getting the order. Should the customer had a complete meltdown about it? Absolutely not, and now his behavior makes the Uber driver look fine. The driver said he didn't have the gas money to deliver the food, and the customer said "give my food first. that's not my problem" and then the customer turns around saying he doesn't feel safe that the driver is delivering his food and is going to call the police on him?
DamianSolo Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I wouldn't have given him any additional money either. Why, indeed, should I pay for his gas? That's ridiculous. The driver needs to learn to manage his money better or find a job where he isn't constantly driving around if he can't afford gas.

I mean I don't disagree that the customer acted out of line, but it doesn't the behavior of the driver "look fine." Two wrongs don't make a right, and while I acknowledge that many drivers are unpaid, this very well may have been a scam as its a common scam tactic.

Robert Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 (edited) People in this thread not knowing how delivery works I would have just reported the issue to Uber. The reaction was a bit much but I can't blame him after the driver tried to scam him. Edited June 4, 2023 by Robert
