sweetkiss Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 i really liked this album, besides the song like reckless and dangerous. envy the leaves, sweet relief, 17 and nothing matters but you are the best on the album. i dont know how this will shape madison beer in the pop world, since its different sound from the first album. first album everyone called her ariana grande copy, now lana del ray copy idk. will madison beer ever be taken seriously? to me shes slept on in general and i think she needs better management.
Quicksand Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Do we know why she switched the album cover for streaming while the physicals still have the space themed photoshoot?

This is something I've really been pondering for the last 24 hours. If you had asked me yesterday at 9am who Madison Beer is I would've said she's some instagram model who makes tiktok sounds on occasion for a quick buck. When I pressed play on the album I was truly expecting to hear something cheap and uninventive, something that sounds like it was made in a lab. And even after the album had floored me I was still struggling to connect this life changing piece of work with the person called Madison Beer. Truth to be told, I'm still struggling with it. It must be some deeply ingrained misogyny that is telling me a young woman who looks like an influencer can't be an actual artist. She can't be taken seriously no matter what she does. It feels so unfair. I don't know if she can ever truly overcome that hurdle. All she can do is continue to make music and hope that by some accident people give her a chance. To me this feels like an album that could have become a worldwide sensation if only it wasn't attached to a name like Madison Beer. 1
Alex Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 this is really samey and boring unfortunately. literally everything after Ryder until Home to Another One could've been cut and nothing would've been lost 4
Junho_lover Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 I like her first album better but this is nice. Perfext for the fall. Envy the leaves, Ryder, reckless are my top 3 so far
Nefertiti0 Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Spotify Day 2: total: 2,433,444(-855,940) • Spinnin — 214,616 (-82,890) • Sweet Relief — 342,452 (-120,124) • Envy The Leaves — 139,185 (-82,380) • 17 — 133,403 (-72,433) • Ryder — 140,386 (-61,585) • Nothing Matters But You — 115,909 (-62,717) • I Wonder — 110,129 (-55,931) • At Your Worst — 116,231 (-59,948) • Showed Me (How I Fell In Love With You) — 105,465 (-44,107) • Home To Another One — 209,198 (-53,734) • Dangerous — 93,096 (-34,910) • Reckless — 508,627 (-42,705) • Silence Between Songs — 107,293 (-44,086) • King Of Everything — 97,454 (-38,390)
OrgVisual Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 It kinda felt like she drafted the whole album following the sudden success of Reckless. "Home To Another One" is truly a highlight but the others just sound very samey and like an extension of Reckless
hallucinate Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 agree with everyone saying that the album sounds very samey there is still a few tracks that i like though
xXavril Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 (edited) Personally I do think the album sounds a bit samey, but I find the production overall very nice. Some albums are samey, and by track 4 or 5 I want something different, but with this album I didn’t have that problem. That said, overall this isn’t an album I’ll go back to, but there are a handful of stand out tracks. Sweet Relief, Home To Another One, I Wonder, Spinnin, and title track are all going to be in pretty heavy rotation. The other tracks aren’t bad just not my personal style Edited September 19, 2023 by xXavril

Power love Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I find this album to be slightly boring. I have to be in a certain mood to listen. Middle of the album is laced with filler also. I’d say…. Starts off strong with the first 3 tracks then your hit with filler 17- I wonder is straight filter then it becomes good again the rest of the album.
Sabrina Carpenter Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 it's an exceptional album but i agree that it does get same-y around the middle part Life Support remains as her best body of work

She says in the Zach Sang interview her inspiration for the album cover was always nature. Idk why she even initially settled on the original H2AO cover. But she ended up hating it & changed it. I guess it was too late for the physicals to be updated, with the exception of an exclusive vinyl. 1
Boysdontcry Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Life Support is sitting with approx 840M Spotify streams. Idk if this has a chance to become her most streamed project? Probably not
butterflymimi Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 this is such a grower! i can see why people think it’s samey however she’s taken my favourite qualities about life support and put them on one project so i love it sour times, blue, stained glass, emotional bruises, effortlessly, homesick and many more tracks from LS remain untouched as her top tier songs though. i need her to come do some shows in the uk though so i can redeem my stan card officially

I don't like it as much as her first album. She needs more pop hits. She needs to go the Sabrina Carpenter route and just keep pushing upbeat pop songs until some start to stick. Her going this ballad driven route will take her nowhere. 1
NumbSoul Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 I think it's clear that this is the sound she likes the most for herself, so I think unless her label forces her to really pump out some upbeat bops, we should only expect a couple here and there Plus, it also seems like all her biggest songs are indeed slower (Reckless, Selfish, etc.), so I don't think it's that bad of a route for her. After sitting with this album for a bit, I do also have to admit that I prefer Life Support. While it's obviously more more pop/generic and has some slightly immature moments, it's just a much more dynamic experience, which is easier to go back to and digest regularly. I still love this album, but Life Support was just on another level for me. That being said though, I think she really found her lane and direction with Silence Between Songs and I think she has the potential to keep improving on this sound, which will lead to her creating an even stronger body of work next time. 2
legendlavigne Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 This deserves a Top 10 debut, but I don't think it'll even make top 50 right? Such a solid album! Will def be seeing her live again if she tours this
Rigalo Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 After completely loving Life Support I think this is pretty mid. I’ll give it a few more spins cus I like some of the singed but…
