BlackoutZone Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Sweet Relief and Home to Another One just need to be her next direction entirely, she is nailing it 4
tbhmatt Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Spinnin and Home To Another One are both perfect 10/10s for me, so I’m perched to listen to what might just well be AOTY
TrueBlood Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Very good record, it’s a lot more mature than her debut. I’m just sad that nothing comes close to the amazingness that Home to Another One is.
tbhmatt Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 I’m only a few tracks in but I’m honestly kind of floored. This blend of folksy whimsy with techno undertones really carves out a lane for her I didn’t think she was capable of? Admittedly I’ve never really paid much attention to her output, as I’ve always found most of her previous releases as basic and uninspired, but this is… genuinely great. She really has an opportunity here to create space for herself in a saturated pop market. If she commits and continues to evolve with this sound I think she’s on to a winner. 2
tbhmatt Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 There’s something that’s particularly present in songs like Spinnin and Ryder. There’s a melancholy and brooding feeling she’s able to capture that sort of puts you on edge as you listen to them, and I mean that as a good thing. The entire album really captures a dystopian feel, where everything feels big but not quite right? Again, in a good way. It feels intentional, like an immersive feeling that is created by the production and sold by her vocal delivery. I don’t quite know how to explain it, but I hope you can understand what I mean when you listen to the record. 2
tbhmatt Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 I’m sorry, wait.. I’ve just peeped that she co-wrote and co-produced on every single song on this album!? No wonder it has such a solid and cohesive soundscape throughout. This is a truly fantastic body of work that she should be very proud of. I feel like I’d need a couple more listens to decide what the highlights are, but on an initial listen I’d say my top 5 is: Home To Another One At Your Worst Spinnin Sweet Relief Silence Between Songs These are probably the songs I’d recommend people to listen to if they’re not sure they want to commit to the full album. I do think that I echo the sentiment that there aren’t any other songs on here that quite match Home To Another One’s soaring pop excellence, but overall this is a great body of work. The last one minute and 30 seconds of King of Everything where the guitars and drums kick in… chef’s kiss. That’s a great way to close the album out.
Mocha Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Very solid album. She sounds great and her voice really sells this sound.
P!NK2LOVE Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 It’s all really good but like Notning is sticking out. It all sounds the swme
crf13 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Are there any fun songs like home to another one or is it all ballads?
perfectillusion204 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Home to Another One sticks out like a sore thumb. Sadly I was hoping for more songs like that so I'm not a big fan on first listen. Sweet Relief & Silence Between Songs were good.
Quicksand Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 She doesn’t disappoint! The album is incredible
Diet Pepsi Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 this album is INCREDIBLE from front to back 1
saintspice Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 she’s extremely talented and i love that she always puts out such cohesive and thought out bodies of work 1
sxmescudi Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 does she have bops like Baby on this one? that’s all i wanna know
Sabrina Carpenter Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 so glad she changed the album cover because the previous one did NOT represent the album as well as the new one
slimfem Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Honestly... I need an album full of Dear Society's. I love her leaked songs like Remember Me, Play Dirty, Cherries and Taste and I was really hoping she'd go in that direction. Those songs have more edge and personality than what's on this album. 1
