liquiddiamonds Posted June 3, 2023 Share Posted June 3, 2023 There are not easy ways out in culture wars such as this, but we do need our big allies and members to show up and be as real as the conservatives are being now. It’s pretty clear they haven’t adapted yet to the post-Trumpian trans-homophobic scenario in which we are the main target and one of the biggest talking points for next years’ campaign. They are pushing real harmful legislation against us. Roe was just testing waters and if they could pass over mostly cis women like that (since trans men were also harmed), you better believe they will do it to us. So they need to understand that what they have offered throughout the years with surface level representation or a special month celebrating us commercially or a pretty speech in a safe space wasn’t much back then and it won’t be much now . They need to actually fuel money to the cause and start supporting organized groups inside politics and in the streets. This new level of commitment is what we are not seeing. They’re mostly about the pink money and lack the strategic vision to support us. And i’m not only speaking about companies, i’m also speaking about celebrities, even LGBTQIA+ ones that rose to fame and still refuse to properly use their platform afraid of losing their bag, and never mentioning us unless it’s to use us as a way to further themselves as representatives. Dont start giving these companies money to prove that you exist and are worthier than conservatives. We’re going to take a major L. We don’t even know if this profit ever ends up supporting us instead of going to causes and politicians against ours. If they want the flowers for “supporting” us than they need to stand up for whatever heat it comes with it. Budlight failed this test, so it’s OUT-OUT for them.
