so he's going to try to change the constitution via executive order? that sets an absolutely terrifying precedent for what else he could do in the future

He can try, but he quite literally can not do it. The Constitution is not vague in this regard; people born in the US are citizens.

Out of curiosity, is this something other countries do? I.e. grant citizenship to children born of people without status in the country.

yes... the Entire new continent is like that... Europe is similar but with restrictions as far as I remember... is basically the principle of "Jus Soli"

But please tell me more about how requiring background checks before purchasing weapons of mass murder is actually fascism because the constitutional amendments are sacred and can never be touched.

I don't know who I despise more between him and DeSantis. Trump is a proud fool, but DeSantis is something much more dangerous since he actually has an understanding of politics—even if he's still a donkey. I'm just so disgusted and tired of them both.

I hate DeSantis so much more. He is so much more calculative and ruthless. He is pure evil. Trump is just a really big (albeit dangerous) idiot.

I hope he keeps eating those McDonalds meals in excess. Let the grease, fats and oils infect his circulatory system.

Not sure about the specifics elsewhere, but birthright citizenship means in the US that you're a citizen if you're born here, even if your parents are undocumented:

I'm guessing this is the new 2024 "I'm going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it" schtick.
DeSantis and Trump are going to try to outdo each other with how awful and extreme they can be to appeal to their base.

His minions in the Supreme Court could agree with him. :rip:

Everything he's doing in Florida is just alarming. He doesn't need to be president. If Trump had this country up in flames, it would be nothing compared to what DeSantis would bring.

This is disgusting. I’m hoping the influx of even more Gen Z voters since 2020 will all be voting. As a country, this **** cannot be tolerated. The attack on immigrants needs to STOP!

He is talking about the newborns not those who were formerly born in the country from illegal parents. Meaning he cannot deport the Cubans you guys mentioned. And if they deport the parents they should take the baby too (instead of babies ending up in American orphans). If the illegal parents get a pass or don't get caught the same applies the baby.

This law wont harm anyone. But he is just bluffing to his base.

One of the biggest fear of deportation for migrants is losing their babies.

I was wondered Gen Z was getting complacent and all “both sides the same, im not voting!1!1” but all the laws Republican states are passing while Democrat states are passing the opposite is really teaching everyone of all ages that voting does matter.

It’s not good that the US has a 2 party system but we live in that reality. If you’re in a blue state, you’re getting abortion & lgbtq rights and in the red ones you’re not. There’s 100 more examples like that, the difference is very noticeable and getting more LOUD each day.  :deadbanana4:

It's not retroactive.

I think the Supreme Court would have to rule on that being constitutional.

They’ve already ruled against the MAGA crowd, so I wouldn’t automatically bet on that.

Where in my post did I say that it was? Stop being so obtuse, you know what I meant. Every generation is more liberal and accepting than the last
