She did a lot of things for him including moving to London for him. She accomodated for him. He was just there. Sounds like he was really indecisive about things and slowly just became apathetic to her feelings.

I like it! The line about “I wouldn’t marry me either / a pathological people pleaser” is meant to reflect words that Joe probably told her. 
 

Now I understand why Joe looked so rough in that candid after their breakup. 
 

I always got the impression that Joe resented her level of fame.
