It’s not the gay part that they really take issue with, it’s trans, drag, pronouns, etc. That’s what’s got them all freaking out. Gays are just along for the ride.

I feel like there is a famous poem about this… hmmm :)

This is an incredibly naive take. They literally are on record for wanting Obergefell taken off the books. They've been staging moral panics over the fact that Gen Z and millennials have been coming out in far greater numbers than previous generations and have jumped to the conclusion that it's because gays are grooming children.

Claiming "it's just the transes that are bad" shows how little you and other liberals have been paying attention.

This. Plus they don’t see trans people as a separate thing, they see it as a more intense version of being gay that keeps going “farther”

Artists should stop releasing Target special editions to show their alliance with LGBTQ+ community. :giraffe:

Unfortunately, this'll affect every other country on the planet. Fascism is like rabies. The US is at a point where our hyperpower status will dictate what happens next, including the upcoming debt default.

Political division and some of the far-right positions have definitely spilled over but the cultural wars have thankfully stayed in the US. There are some qanon weirdos here and there but they are a small minority

The fact that people get so worked up over pride merch whether or not you are a part of/like LGBT stuff or not is insane to me. I hate religion but I literally pass by it whether it be related merch or a place of religious practice and give it not a single thought. That is their business. Even hating it I actually support their right to freely have that belief and have it safely 💀 But god forbid one rainbow pops up and they breakdown over nothing. Don’t these people have any sort of lives? Or is their life just being mad people think, live, and are different from them? It’s so weird to me. I guess though it is a matter of being riled up by the media and politicians into thinking they’re under attack than probably just going after it to go after it though

True. I'm just worried about the political spillover into both the UK and Germany (being the wealthiest and most influential voices in the EU) ... I'm less worried about Russia and China because their intentions have always been clear. Following the politics in the UK has shown how much the conservatives wanna follow our privatization of the health care industry.

Reading into history, it's always been obvious that most nations didn't care too much about the initial onslaught of civil liberties until the Holocaust reared its ugly head.

Target is an aid to fascism, keep spreading that truth around.

We need this queen back to end the fascists. But seriously...this is getting out of hand.

I love this video so much because it’s solid proof that this whole “anti-LGBTQ backlash” is just conservatives being loud as ****. Literally every single person that guy talks to either says they support pride or ignore him like the idiot he is. Once you remove a conservative from their echo chamber reality tends to slap them in the face pretty quick.

I feel like the best solutions for Target are to either 1) keep the Pride display up and hire security guards to protect the workers or 2) have a sign explaining that the display had to be removed out of safety for the employees and showcasing LGBT+ charities to donate to or options to purchase the Pride merchandise online.

The US stays being a mess.

Now they're moving onto North Face. :rip:  June is going to be miserable for them.

The UK would like a word. The trans issue is huge there and incredibly volatile.

@nadiamendell

One of the brands in Target's Pride Collections "Ash+Chess" has now been pulled from ALL storefronts (but still available online)

No further details as to whether it was forced or recommended by Target, or their own choice, just website statement below.

TMZ just reported on it.

Yeah no pride stuff from any corporation this year for me. Can’t really help basic stuff for home like food and stuff but at least they won’t get my money that way

Corporations literally have a history of this so its not surprising, just forever disappointing.

Target really fucked up here because not only are all the conservatives and transphobes still upset and wanting to boycott them for having the LGBT products, but they also pissed off the left and LGBT community for getting rid of just a little of their pride merch and moving it to parts of the store nobody sees.  They pleased nobody and made everyone mad.

Same with Bud Light flip flopping. These companies really stand for nothing. They just want more money. I have to give some credit to Disney though, for not backtracking in Florida.

That's not entirely true on Disney. Shareholders got rid of Iger for the initial backlash against Disney then brought him back when they realized the backlash to the backlash was worse.
