The C2C cover is lowkey an abomination, but her pop covers clear.

even though the clown concept is a choice I find that cover to be interesting, because she's not smiling even though it's an album called smile which gives us a deeper meaning. for example, people that are usually loud, funny and clown a lot tend to be very sad inside but play the clown to make others laugh around them. you can also interpret it as katy embracing the clown persona that was given to her because of her cringy and campy persona and going with it putting the clown nose on and just being there for SMILE even though she's not really smiling. she's playing her part tho.

 

also the text "smile" is shaped like a smile which is a cute touch and the color palette and the outfit are really cute together.

Yeah but the other pop girls have more ugly covers so we can forgive her for that.

I'm pretty much okay with Katy's clown concept, but I hate this font. Oh, what an ugly weird-ass font.   It has started from Witness.

Shockingly, I'd say Adele. I'm not a fan of super busy album covers. If we're talking non-busy album covers I like by other MPGs, Chromatica has a great album cover. So does Teenage Dream. I really do not care for the rest.

• Adele - nearly chose her, but they are a little too safe. I don't know what they're telling me about the music on the albums, it's just like hey look I have a beautiful face lol. 19, 21 and 25 are all serves nonetheless. The 30 cover is TOO bland and I wish she was front facing like the others.
• Katy - she has possibly my least favorite bunch. OOTB cover is really fun but I hate the font and it's a little busy/tacky. TD is her best cover by leagues and one of the best album covers ever. PRISM cover is a big downgrade and, although pretty, is kinda giving graphic design is my passion with the border. The Witness cover is a hot mess. I hate the whole clown aesthetic she did during Smile era too. 
• Kesha - IDK, all of her album covers are pretty much fine. Neither love nor hate them except Rainbow. Rainbow is the best one of her bunch and beautiful.
• Gaga - TF & TFM album covers are perfection, but the quality takes a nosedive after that. I will never like the BTW & ARTPOP album covers. C2C cover looks really... off, like her face was photoshopped or something. Also that wig, no.  Joanne is just a boring side profile like 30. I like the ASIB cover fine. Chromatica cover is actually a MASSIVE upgrade and her best album cover in over a decade. Her album covers as a whole are so beyond in-cohesive it's a bit jarring to look at all together.
• Rihanna - my choice for best ones. They're mostly face pics but I think they all fit the albums they're coming from overall pretty well. GGGB tells you she's feeling sexy, Rated R that she was feeling rebellious & angry, Loud that she's feeling in your face & giving you big energy, TTT that she was feeling very sexual & forward at the time, Unapologetic that she's.. well, unapologetic lol and don't care what you think, & ANTI that she is going deeper than ever to tell you who she really is. The MOTS & AGLM are just pretty glamour shots but work for what they are. As a bunch, find them the most pleasing group to look at together.

Katy Perry's covers are brilliant and perfectly matching the music. Except for Witness, which has a nice cover concept but the music did not live up to it.

None of these selections are perfect, but I would say Gaga’s is the most consistent. Katy has the highest high with TD, but she also has some horrific lows (Witness and Smile cover). Rih’s are nice, but are a bit generic sans ANTI. Adele’s are tasteful, but very safe, so I wouldn’t say they are the best, but I wouldn’t classify them as the worst. I like Kesha’s Rainbow cover, but all her other covers I kind of hate, so I’d probably name her for worst.

Katy's by far. Her newer covers have been underwhelming but TD and OOTB are perfect.
