Florida’s Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler is receiving major backlash from social media users following a tweet he shared directed toward National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Chairman Leon W. Russell.

Ziegler’s tweet was in response to the NAACP’s travel advisory, which was distributed Saturday. The travel advisory stated, “Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals. Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by African Americans and other communities of color.” X

Ziegler [first came to national prominence] when he spearheaded a failed campaign to rename Palm Beach International Airport for Trump. Also that year as a Sarasota County Commissioner he awarded $825,000 to the far-right pro-Trump video platform Rumble, which then relocated from Canada to the area’s Longboat Key, home to one of its Rumble’s investors, Dan Bongino.

Ziegler, who attended Trump’s pre-riot rally at the Capitol, defeated a DeSantis ally to become Florida GOP chairman in February. His wife, Bridget Ziegler, is the co-founder of Moms For Liberty and was appointed to Disney’s oversight board by DeSantis. X
