Chart Hive / number crunchers, does this have a chance in the US? Any info on what it's doing on radio? Is it being sent?

 

I'd take a UK top 10, cute US rebound, and helping as tour promo, but this is one of those moments where a little push (even if just from the label) could be all that's needed to massage this into an actual era closing hit. 

 

On a random but related note: I still say the 4 era (commercially) did a number on her. It's truly the last era she was "ok" with "looking" like she was "trying". All for so-so returns on the charts (not a 4 hater btw, it constantly rotates with Rennie as my fave album of hers).

 

Of course, her career has gone to amazing things and she's redefined what her success looks like and ascended to new career/cultural heights because of it. BUT trust and believe I really think she does care how her music does and probably has clear benchmarks that she's base-satisfied with (e.g. Platinum selling album and everything else being icing on the cake). She's both a Virgo and a capitalist, so perfection, winning, and ultimately being on top are baked into her narrative. 

 

We really need to centralize the reality that touring is the biggest money-maker for her. Tours require a hybrid of stans and the GP (the latter being the most). GP flock to...what?...hits. Bey's name and legacy carry weight, but much of the selling out and hysteria is undoubtedly helped by the GP appeal of BMS, Cuff It, and the virality of the album itself. 

 

Put simply, there is and will always be a need for her to "care" about the success/commercial resonance of her music while still in this "on top" phase of her career.. . For the sole reason that it informs the success of her real money maker: touring. 

 

With that, I think she's mastered the "illusion" of not caring (which is clever marketing as is) rather than the reality of it.

Dua's also dropped substantially, as did Taylor's new remix. I think it was a pretty bad day across the board.
