awong918 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Gaga was the it girl of 2009-2011. On a worldwide scale, very few came close to her level. Taylor Swift seems to be in her position now. Whose peak was bigger? 1 1
FightDragonsWithMe Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Taylor has like 3 peaks while Gaga burned out musically by 2011 to comeback with Celine Dion type music with ASIB so Taylor. 3 1 1 4
FolkLover1989 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 (edited) Can Gaga chart more than 5 albums in multiple countries for multiple months ? That's the peak. It's not just about 1 or 2 eras Edited May 19, 2023 by FolkLover1989 1 1 1
Gorjesspazze9 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 yeah Taylor had like 3 The Fame Level era’s. So it’s pretty clear who wins 4 1 1 1
charot Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 (edited) Consistency: Taylor Peak: Gaga duh Edited May 19, 2023 by charot
Cloröx Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Gaga has bigger peak but Taylor's consistency >>>>> Gaga's career 1 1
Eternal220 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Taylor easily. All her albums charting, 600m+ grossing tour from just 1 country, occupying the entire top 10 singles chart.
Arrows Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Taylor as an artist is bigger right now but Midnights is not bigger than The Fame/Monster, does that make sense?

The OP is asking about 'higher high'. --- Taylor's peak: 1989 Gaga's: TF/M Therefore Gaga, and only Britney and Madonna have achieved such peak. Edited May 19, 2023 by charot 1
Trent W Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Taylor is definitely bigger right now than what Gaga was in 2009-2010 I know that combining TFM and TF would be bigger than any Taylor album individually But Taylor has all her albums currently charting and is probably going to have the biggest tour all time It’s definitely Taylor now

thetea Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 gaga easily. taylor has managed to stay hugely successful over different eras, but gaga's peak with TFM/BTW was way bigger than taylor's eras. gaga's problem is just trying to maintain success over different eras. 1 1

Before Midnights I would have said Gaga. But I think Taylor now has the bigger peak too 1
Orsay Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 (edited) Gaga. The Fame Monster is bigger than any of Taylor's albums Edited May 19, 2023 by Orsay 1 1

Peak is not just about numbers/sales, it's a mix of everything... numbers, hits, cultural impact, 'iconicness', media coverage, even controveries etc. Edited May 19, 2023 by charot 7 1
Popular Post Infernal Paradise Posted May 19, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 19, 2023 I'd say it's still Gaga by far. Her peak was a perfect storm made up of multiple powerful factors that she perfected and used to her advantage – media frenzy, celebrity, superstardom, shock value, a rapidly changing internet landscape with all the giant social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter on the rise. All of that afforded her a very unique window of opportunity to reach and traverse multiple generations at an almost unprecedented scale in a short amount of time. She was ubiquitous. Massive albums, massive singles, massive tours. Music video premieres that were cultural events. Iconic red carpet appearances that instantly found their way to full-page coverage. And this wasn't just happening disproporionately in pockets around the world, this was happening everywhere, daily and uniformly. Nowadays, we can curate our social experiences on our TikTok and Instagram feeds based on what we like or not but back then that wasn't possible as much, which made her even more inescapable and fueled her rise even further. To this day, that kind of cultural saturation that she attained as a result of simultaneous penetration (depth) and permeation (breadth) worldwide has not been matched by anyone after her, tbh. It's why so many publications refer to her as "Pop's last great superstar" or a variation of that. She could easily retire today and she will still remain a household name forever with what she accomplished early on in her career. 21 1

She was massive on every part of the world. Miss Swift cant relate. And i already see Swifties mental gymnastics in here, "but she has multiple charting albums at the moment" y all are really clueless 2 3
Mr. Stratus Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 we know taylor is more consistent and is slaying now, but gaga's peak was phenomonel across all boards in 2009-2012. She has the bigger peak, Taylor the bigger consistently. she has not reached what Gaga had just cause of those albums charting in the streaming era. But, its not to disrespect Taylor she is huge. 5
