Really curious if she'll still do her few fall tour/festival dates or if she gets dropped from the festivals and cancels the tour dates as a result. I have pit tickets to see her in LA and I'm a little torn on what to do. If it isn't cancelled and I can't get my money back (seems likely), I might just go and wear a "protect trans kids" shirt or something. I know that's just lame passive activism and I'm still supporting her in some way by showing up, but it was highkey my most anticipated show of the fall outside of Beyonce

 

It's such a weird thing to reconcile because I love a lot of older country/classic R&B acts and have seen many of them live and I'm sure many of them have the same or worse views about LGBT people, but idk it somehow is harder thing to reconcile with her where she's so targeted to the LGBT community with her music.

Honestly, she should've pledged this in her statement, it would've been nice if the decision came from her.

Listen to it if you were really looking forward to it. Róisín is not the only person who worked on that album either way.

Well that would've been a good look but if she said that her views are "fixed", why would she donate to a cause she doesn't seem to believe in?

Having dumb questions or thoughts about puberty blockers (for a very early age segmented) is not the same as "I hate trans people", or like expecting that her trans crowd would be subjected to violence during her concerts. That sounds so out of touch (?)

Well she didn't articulate her stance on trans people in her apology at all and didn't make it clear that her platform can't be used by terfs so like I literally have no clue where she stands at this point

honestly, if the response was this vague, she definitely tried to hide something. at this point, I don’t trust her at all.

Well she pledged to not share any more disinformation - she was clear that she wouldn't be using her platform to do harm like Glinner or JK. That's very much to not give terfs any more ammunition or a symbol to rally around. She's not going to be their "LGBT community insider who turned against them" in their narrative and a lot of them are dogpiling her replies about that. You can call it the bare minimum if you like but there is room to grow, for everyone, there are no perfect allies and hopefully in private she's open to dialogue with her trans contacts.

Hmm, until the label gets more specific about when and where they're donating the profits wirh concrete proof, I wouldn't get too excited. This night just be damage control.
