I'm gonna have a listen on release date, then decide if I like the whole album and buy the Deluxe version on vinyl. Depends on how she's approaching this until album release though. Not sure if I'm gonna support her after that, like I said, let's wait for a reaction...

I don't think she is gonna put out a statement or anything like that

Just because you don't agree with someones point of view on a particular subject doesn't mean you cant support their craft, work ethic and overall support for the LGBTQ community.

I’m excited about the album too and at the same time sad and disappointed about Roisin. Also, whole ATRL bops to Azealia Banks but she’s never getting near this much energy lol

This is my issue, why are we picking and choosing who turn an eye to? I personally approach both with caution. I think Roisin is well-intentioned but misinformed. Azealia is a drug addict and mentally ill

I'm conflicted. this was my first era as a Roisin fan, I've loved all the music she has released so far. But I just don't know if I can support her knowing she's a TERF. Sure the music bops but listening to it I just know in the back of my mind I'll be thinking about her being a TERF. I'll probably give the album one listen and that's it.

I, for one, am reserving my judgement until she resumes her social media activity and see if she comes forward with a clear, coherent statement in regards with the situation

It's riddled with uncertainties, a misinformed comment (that no one can even find the link to :rip:) made by a Facebook account that is presumed to be hers, an Instagram comment that she pinned or didn't pin (it didn't show up for me at least) does not constitute that she's a terf nor does it cancel out there decades or allyship :sorry:

I'm a little bit conflicted because my interest in this campaign was slowly rising and after this whole PR tragedy happened idk what to think

I will still listen to the album tho

I'll listen and appreciate the album for what it's worth but all this situation just made me so terribly sad... so poorly managed and I just think that my hopes for each day waiting for her to come out and clear the air only to not get anything just made me more disappointed :(

That is terrible to just push an issue aside like this cause you are a stan.

These kind of comments trigger dangerous thoughts and actions from young LGBTIQ teens. I was born intersex and the lack of knowledge these hurtful comments create is terrible

So I’ve been thinking of going to this pre-release album premiere event in my city next week as this is one of my most anticipated records of the year. I’m lowkey worried about the audience it could potentially attract though or the messy arguments that could ensue considering this whole drama

Just go there and have fun. If she attracts a terf audience then they do them. What you decide to listen doesn’t make a different person out of you.

Róisín is wrong and she expressed a really dangerous opinion. But she’s been vocal about the LGBT+ collective throughout the years, I really hope she can still learn from this even if it’s not in time for the album. I don’t think she has anything against trans people, just that she’s been misinformed and ignorant about this specific issue.

Is she even a feminist? I mean she could just be a straight-up transphobe

As someone said in the other thread, she isn’t big/notable enough to appeal to — or draw a significant crowd from — a TERFy audience. Your main concern should be supporting her at this stage.

It’s not like JK Rowling where every other person in the world already knew of her and her work. JK  had a “built-in” TERF audience just by virtue of being so famous.

What Róisín said is not comparable to all the sh*t JK Rowling has been spewing for years now either, let's not. :rip:

obviously I do lmao, but by definition they aren't feminists. you can't pick and chose which women your "feminism" supports. also, most "TERF"s aren't actually activists or allies, just keyboard warriors who get mad at trans people and ignore feminism all together, like Roisin did for example.
