TalkThatRihanna Posted July 28, 2023 Author Posted July 28, 2023 This is a great summer album tbh, and the cover does it justice The chill vibe and guitar on most tracks are chefs kiss First 10 Tracks are great, but tracks 11-13 and Green Thump are skips I fear @Mark Rih was right. The chorus of Buyer Beware is a BOP. And Landmine is good too on more listens Spoiler Although Laugh It Up is still a skip I can’t with the “ha ha has” in the chorus 1

Post Malone Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Most songs are nice and there are some pretty moments throughout but I don't feel like the songs accumulate to some greater concept or story... it just feels like a collection of cute songs unlike his other albums that actually stand on their own. There's a severe lack of MEAT here, like an obvious "title track" or a banger section His discography took some heavy damage at this point with these last two ambiguous and undercooked albums compared to the to his first 3 bangerfests. But there's enough good songs on both this and TCT for them to still be of use so it's not the end of the world. He's just not as reliable as he used to be to DELIVA The tracklist order is the biggest mess I've ever EVER seen and nobody is going to TOUCH this album in full due to that ALONE the opener is a faux demo recording that stretches for way too long for the like one and a half melodies it repeats over and over. nobody asked to be jumpscared with this faux singer-songwriter impression and it's just not a serious album opener... the tone that's getting set for the rest of the album is SLEEP time I think it could've been a cute addition as a post-credits gig like New Recording on TCT, but it has no business being any close to a spotlight position on the album In a jarring contrast the next track Something Real is a mid screamfest that tries too hard to incorporate a dramatic choir like TWYW or something but never hits the mark. The verses are okay but the chorus is terrible and literally grates the human hear. This and Don't Understand are like the 2nd and 3rd worst songs on the album... and girl wait till I skulldrag the existence of THEE worst song soon From there the album is consistent for a while, I like every song from Chemical to Speedometer. I really hate that the first two tracks HAD to exist I kinda didn't enjoy Chemical and Mourning upon release, but they stand out within the album as the poppiest songs and they're growing on me. I kinda hated Mourning and now it's cute but I think Novacandy serves a similar purpose of being a trappy bop and could have been a better single choice, it has more personality to it Too Cool To Die is gorgeously sung, written, everythinged, it's in my top 3 faves and it's giving THE biggest hit potential on the album and bookmark me it'll end up being the most streamed album track Sign Me Up is thique in melodies in a very Max Martinian way and it definitely matches what I was expecting from them collabing. This song sounds like THE album opener, why tf wasn't it IT? It's giving Love Hate Letter not being the opener on TCT Socialite is so so so pretty it's another top 3 track for me I fear, the piano notes so sharp that they can cut glass etc, like period. Overdrive is another great track I enjoy & it was IT that poked me out of indifference towards this era out of all the singles Speedometer is an exquisite disco banger, the instrumental when miss Post said h*rny & let's make a baby tonight... I moved Now.... Hold My Breath. Girl. If my reaction to this wasn't like Ajay's reaction to Accelerate or Sweetener's title track. this deadass sounds like a Madame X reject. Killers Who Are Partying Dark Ballet wtf are these vocals and the song's structure and the placement between solid bops on the tracklist? Literally nothing about this... thing's existence makes sense right when you think it finally finishes there's a random ass outro listening to this song is giving the gif that was smashing on ATRL a couple years ago of the Anime girl getting a hit after hit by like a dozen handballs his worst song until now would've been some mid Stoney filler that's just there... but this is actually OFFENSIVE and I'm highkey gonna block it on Spotify I fear Enough Is Enough is a great 80s inspired song, about time we hear miss Post on this sound. One of the strongest songs on the album, but not good enough to do damage as a single. It's gonna bomb I fear. I can't believe it got a #1 on TTH over Beyonce x Travis I feel like after this inevitably bombs the era will be wrappes up HARD (and possibly his career with it? ) Texas Tea is pretty, the production reminds me of TCT and specifically Love Hate Letter I like Buyer Beware, the guitars are pretty, I haven't picked up what it's actually about lyrically yet but sonically it's kinda giving a scandalous wild west storytell like No Body No Crime, it's kinda too good to be so far in the back, it's giving like a track 5 Now Landmine is THEEEE best song a good use of the choir and the verse and chorus compliment each other so well and don't drag beyond their purpose. Pretty vocals and melodies and the ooh-ooh-ooh melody at the end of the chord progression is giving a slight rip off his nemesis B*llie, one of her songs from her album people actually heard, "I Love You" Anyways this is the best song period The last couple tracks are a cute acoustic conclusion. Don't Understand belongs right here and not as the album opener like what's going awn with that? In conclusion there's like 10 useful cute songs in here, but it doesn't feel strong as a full album. I don't see myself ever being like "I wanna listen to 'Austin'"! this should've highkey not been released. It could have been much better if these inoffensive soft songs were spaced out on his like next 3 albums instead of all of them being served at once as an album nobody asked for anyways where is @bad guy 1 2 1

I especially agree with the first 2 paragraphs: it just feels like a cute selection of songs but where are the bangers and hits?! All these songs feel like they would be some cute filler/album tracks on any of his first couple albums So cute lil songs but getting a lot of those at once is a bit grating And like i said before his melodies have been absolutely insane in the first 3 albums but now nothing kinda sticks. I legit dont think any song on this is even top 20 in his discography Also the fact that every song on the last 2 albums feel a little high pitched compared to his voice on the first 3 albums Edited July 28, 2023 by TaylenaStan

bad guy Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Put this on during my drive down the lake and I think I realized why I can't connect with @Post Malone anymore. What he's singing about is what HE thinks his audience wants to hear: drinking, partying, drugs. Meanwhile he's been sober in middle of nowhere Utah with a newborn baby. None of these songs are authentic to his lived experience anymore. He's no longer the drug addicted unhealthy unwashed rockstar anymore. Stoney and Beerbongs were smashes because it was unapologetically HIM. Hollywood's Bleeding just ran off the back of the success of those two + Circles/Sunflower. You could see the cracks between his stage persona vs. real life in a lot of the songs but we let it slide. His biggest mistake was not leaning more into rock and duping everyone into thinking he was about to enter sober rockstar status, but instead he went full pop. By this point The Kid Laroi had kinda replaced him. My expectations were set at 0 with this so I tried, I did. The opener was an immediate skip and I Don't Understand why he continues to overkill it with the goat vocals. Something Real was real scary. I jumped out of my carseat with that choir. I like the chorus but I feel like it's so abrupt and the then the verses are just mid with more whiny goat vocals but I didn't skip it. Chemical is very forgettable but the hook is cute I guess. Then Novacandy came on... My eyes lit up. Is this the old Posty? Then he ruined it with "I just wanna free trip to f***** Disneyland" and some line about Instagram and he ruined the timelessness that song could have by including those fads. I got the ick once again. Skipped Mourning. Then Too Cool To Die came on. First I appreciate him paying homage to Billie's No Time to Die with that title. Second, the song was kinda cute. The only hook I remember actually. Hope it becomes a single. All the songs up to Speedometer kinda blend together and I don't remember them at all but Speedometer was different. I was mad because production wise it's one of his freshest sounds but then the lyrics are...about a car he bought. Like ok. Waiting for the song about the child he just had at this point. Then we have TTH Is Enough and this is like if Imagine Dragons made mall music. This can't be the single over TCTD. Then the album gets kinda country. Morgan Wallen his influence. Anyway I feel like this was rush released. It's kinda all over the place. I'll probably never listen to it again but Novacandy and TCTD are the only highlights for me. Better than Twelve Weeks Charting at least. But overall I think he either has to go back on drugs or just drop the autotuned goat vocals and go full RAW rock/country for me to enjoy him again. It just made me sad how he went from bibles like Stoney and BB to this. Notice how once @Post Malone started stanning all these issues starting arising. Please let him GO. 1
Mark Rih Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 These reviews sksjskkss I love y’all anyway I get what you are saying and you’re right.. but idc I’m really digging this album, it’s so easy to listen to
Twilish Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Mourning is THE one i don’t know what ya’ll are missing
Cefh Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 I really liked it, way better than his previous one and probably one of my favorites 2023 albums. Overdrive, Buyer Beware, Sign Me Up and Speedometer are my favorites Mourning was an awful choice to be a single, wth where they thinking? same with pushing Enough Is Enough lol. I hope he can score at least one hit with this album. Overdrive is my favorite but apparently Chemical has more chances. I'll always root for Posty... too bad Travis will block him
