Malta has only four qualifications in the past six attempts. With the televote only semifinals, this has a decent chance of qualifying.

It’s all performative

Wish this energy was this common for all the men that go to Eurovision and all have the same charisma, the charisma of a raw potato. 1

If Iceland also ignores it after all they've said I'll lose all hope, I doubt Slovenia's petition will go anywhere at this rate 1
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted February 15 ATRL Moderator Posted February 15 The way my two most played songs from Eurovision season are Ich Kundige and Sinceramente and neither are actually going to the contest

ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted February 15 ATRL Moderator Posted February 15 I wonder if EBU is waiting for Israel to keep sending political songs and use that as the reason to kick them out? That way the EBU doesn’t have to answer to sponsors or other Israel sponsors outside of saying “well they broke the rules and we gave them a chance to fix it and they refused” which is a much easier out than the obvious political issues sadly.

I just saw a Tweet saying that EBU rejected the song Israel had sent. Could be misinformation though. Belarus I'm so sorry
Fevesy Posted February 15 Posted February 15 What baffles me at this point is that rule breaking or not and even the actual politics aside... the security costs just by having Israel participate surely don't beat the pros of having them there? The girl is basically confirmed to get on stage, sing her song (and likely not even qualify) and lock herself in a hotel room. No Turquoise carpet, not interviews, anything.

Belarus I'm so sorry Yeah it is, they just submitted the song for pre-approval or EBU requested that the song be submitted to check for political messaging before release due to the circumstances. I could be wrong but don't songs usually get checked by EBU post-release/announcement? Since there is tons of songs in NFs etc..

She could always withdraw due to pressure... but she isn't because she thinks she'd doing something I guess. So let her be, and let them be. But also let everyone and their mother boo them 24/7 as soon as they step a foot in the arena. The EBU is playing the "we're against cancel culture" game, and that will mean that they're willing to let others have an opinion as well... oh and people will be raising their opinions loud and clear. So 2024 Eurovision week will be one for the books tho, that's for sure.

Belarus I'm so sorry Belarus was given a chance to change their entry and I don’t think tried changing at all Maybe they’ll give Israel a chance and their new song will still be political? Who knows. But Belarus wasn’t taken out of the contest until mid-March I believe.
gimmelaugh Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Was Belarus supposed to participate this year or are we talking about some other year?

They were given a chance but only after the release of whatever song they had sent, which leads me to believe that either EBU did not check beforehand if the song is suitable OR they were too lazy to read into it. Apparently, the second song (which we never heard) had the same political undertones. It was titled Song About Hares or something like that So, does the EBU need to pre-approve the entries before they get officially released OR are they doing this specifically for Israel? hm, interesting special treatment!

I agree that comparing every female dance song to Chanel is dumb, but this girl has nothing original about her. The outfit is literally a Chanel copy/paste. and the choreo is Chanel meets Noa Kirel. I hope they do a huge revamp when it comes to staging, cause this is looking very cheap.

Spain has a great song this year, very catchy and modern but girl can't sing for $hit They really need to polish her live vocals and buff her up with good back vocalist

She had one goal: win the national selection to then get the time and budget to gather a better team to come up with a new concept. However, to get to that stage, she needed to sell the song, and the chanel fantasy with the mugler suit did the trick, which looked good nonetheless and now gives her more time and resources to elevate the performance for Malmö
Bloodflowers. Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Imagine the drama if Israel stays and how other artists and people in the arena will react whewww a must see TV, get those ratings and news clicks when arena booing Israel loudly goes viral
