Fevesy Posted January 31 Posted January 31 The fact it's still 4-5 weeks until We Will Rave is on streaming services... Austria DO something 2

I don't see the similarities with Eaea, which was really unconventional + grating and the definition of televote poison; this sounds like some 60s evergreen ballad with a bit of a spanish twist, I think there's audience for that kind of entries.
KOMH Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Irish girls we're so breaking our NQ streak with that placement
Komet Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Are we really gonna have another Portugal 2019 experience with eurogays hyping up the most unlistenable shit you can imagine and then somehow be shocked when it inevitably bombs? 1

Fevesy Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Austria is definitely gonna qualify in this SF ahhh. I can see Netherlands winning this one if Joost comes with a televote bait like expected.

But why is her performance on official Eurovision channel but not Ireland?? Fishy! It's not really fishy, RTÉ just doesn't want to allow the EBU to upload yet. Probably because Bambie's making a MV.

Latvia/Denmark/Estonia have really weak NFs with no special standouts, Albania/Czechia are already out and on the bottom of everyone's rankings, then there's Georgia/Malta/San Marino which 💀, like its bad for us. There will be fillers sneaking through, while I can already tell there'll be some interesting entries left behind in Semi 1. I know you can't predict things like this, but I wish we could finally have one year with even semis, enough already
Solaria Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Ukraine will be winning AGAIN this year with Teresallah & Maria
gimmelaugh Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I loved his song last year and this year it's the same for me! It's a bop 1
Funhouse Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) Almácor's staging package would've been so good if he had even the slightest bit of vocal talent. Spain is in a really bad position right now. Unlike the previous 2 editions no one really has a Eurovision-ready package. Jorge has the staging but not the song, Nebulossa is a fun campy moment but obviously wouldn't be competitive, Angy has some potential but I don't think her current performance is strong enough to win Benidorm fest, and Almácor sounds like a complete amateur. St Pedro's song is a snooze and the staging is completely wrong, but I don't think anything can beat him with Benidorm Fest's voting system. None of the other contenders have enough jury support and the demoscopic jury and televote will be all over the place. Edited February 2 by Funhouse

This. Blanca Paloma is an AMAZING artist, but the song had 0 replay value for eurofans sadly. 14 minutes ago, Funhouse said: Almácor's staging package would've been so good if he had even the slightest bit of vocal talent. So sad since Spain was starting to grow, but this year I don't see a strong option. For me, it's either Angy or St. Pedro. Angy has the charisma and the staging that St. Pedro lacks, and the latter has a beautiful song that could have an Amar pelos dois moment, but I'm afraid the staging will be abysmal and he lacks the charisma needed to pull that. Anyway, Blanca Paloma seemed to have winner potential and tanked in the end, so who knows at this point
igninton Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) Maria If only she wasn't competing the year after Blanca Paloma this could've been such a strong modern-folk entry. It has a pleasant melody and it's more mellow than EaEa. Edited February 2 by igninton 2
abelfenty Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Almácor barely qualifying St Pedro is almost definitely going to win with that jury score
Mellark Posted February 2 Posted February 2 This first heat snippets of Melodifestivalen 2024 despite the A-Teens reunion are not good, like only two or three, are giving sure I'll listen to them again. But the rest.... major yikes.

Komet Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I'm sorry but Beindorm is prob my favorite NF to watch, like you cannot make this up Did it ever happen before that the audince reacted SO badly to the results, I feel we were moments away from ph-words storming the stage, it was BAD for the juries. Going into the semi, St Pedro was my favorite but the performance is a complete bomb. The song basically staged itself - something simple, moody and intimate would done wonders to translate the song's atmosphere, but instead we got him walking through a stripper joint? And apparently he already said he wouldn't change it for Eurovision ?? Good luck on not booking bottom 5 if they pick him. On the other hand Jorge came mad as hell and did what he needed to do. Is the song derivative? Yes. Will it be televote-backed mid table result at best? Yes. But I'd rather have this on ESC which is guranteed to be a moment, than something that people would use as a bathroom break.

How did they manage to generify metal I'll prob be tuning in after the songs just to see A Teens, I'd rather watch MGP despite seeing all the acts already

With all the respect for Jorge, who is a good artist and seems to be a real eurofan, "Caliente" is SO tacky it's embarrassing. First, the title, like "hey, we're Spanish, so obviously we are CALIENTTTTE RRRR" Then, the chorus drop that sounds like a generic Mediterranean song we've heard 1947291 times in Eurovision's history. And last but not least, the dance break, which is painfully similar to Chanel's in the concept and instrumental but with 2% of the difficulty... I was absolutely embarrassed when it happened. So as a Spanish, I'd absolutely rather send something like St. Pedro, Maria or even Almacor (which I don't like at ALL, but seems to connect with younger audiences and has a proper staging), and have a Blanca Paloma placement but keeping up the quality, than to be taken again for a corny joke
igninton Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Yeah 'Caliente' is mid and lowkey embarrassing sorry I still want Nebulossa to go just because I would love to see her in Malmo but it's St.Pedro's to lose on Saturday I'm afraid
