What happened to actual music?  I swear, it's almost as if potential Eurovision acts are doing this on purpose. Go Tobann, My AI (Noway), AI (Latvia NS), the Let 3 Dora song, the Baby Lasagna song.

It's not quirky, it's not avant-garde, it's not experimental, IT'S SCARY. Is it that difficult to produce a simple pop song or a ballad or whatever???

At this point someone could sing on top of static white noise and Eurofans would be like YASSSS WINNER WE'RE GOING TO [random city] [following year]

Eurovision has a history of quirky, avant-garde songs being successful at the contest. Obviously Cha Cha Cha last year, but in a lesser extent Mama Sc, Moldova’s train song, Shum, and In Corpore Sano can all fit this mold recently.

I don’t think Baby Lasagna is even that quirky or unusual though, just because it leans rock over pop doesn’t make it “scary”. Looking at Ireland, they’ve sent “simple pop songs” for years with basically no success so if taking a risk with a Celtic metal track is not something that should bother anyone, regardless of how it does.

Luxembourg just put out eight really lifeless pop songs and ballads and nobody online is talking about those songs. You go on social media and everyone is talking about Ich Kundige, My AI, and Go Tobann right now. I’d much rather have the contest filled with interesting songs that might flop over a contest of simple pop songs and ballads that are a snooze to get through.

I know ma'am. At least Trenutelul, ICS, Shum are actually enjoyable and have a rhythm, melody or whatever you call that  The snippet of that Irish song I've heard were a jumpscare ngl

btw this CLASSIC is turning 10 this year :jonny6:

Took a higher quality rip from the radio station and Go Tobann has been on REPEAT.

In the radio interview she just outright says that she was inspired by Cha Cha Cha. Käärijä having numerous sons and daughters already this season :jonny:

Top 3/notes from what I’ve heard so far:

🇳🇴 Norway:

🥇My AI - Erika Norwich & Super Rob

🥈Oblivion - Margaret Berger

🥉Green Lights - MIIA

🇱🇺 Luxembourg:

🥇Fighter - Tali

🥈Drowning in Rain - Krick

🥉Devil in the Detail - One Last Time

🇪🇪 Estonia:

🥇FOMO - Cecilia

🥈My Friend - Ollie

🥉(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi - 5MIINUST

🇱🇻 Latvia:

🥇Hollow - Dons

No 2nd or 3rd place bc the selection is actually tragic

🇭🇷 Croatia:

🥇Gasoline - Marcela

🥈Rim Tim Tagi Dim - Baby Lasagna

🥉Tišine - Eugen

Notes:

I might switch Ollie to #1 in Estonia, I’m living for the Evanescence-early 2000s radio fodder grunge pop!

Latvia and Croatia has so much adult contemporary, bland filler. Tragic selections!

More than 1,400 Finnish music industry professionals have signed a petition urging a ban on Israel from Eurovision over alleged "war crimes" in Gaza.

If Israel is not excluded from the competition, they want public broadcaster Yle to withdraw Finland's entry from the competition.

Yle says it is monitoring the position of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the organiser of the contest.

Quote

They accuse Yle of double standards, saying the broadcaster was among the first to demand a ban on Russia from the 2022 contest, "and we expect the same active defending of values from Yle now as well".

Quote

Last month, Icelandic musicians made similar demands to broadcaster Rúv.
