Which of this year's NQs would've qualified with juries help, and then made a dent in Switzerland getting 22 12pts there? I think the point is that with jury-less semi's countries will be more inclined to send a public vote friendly song (as we saw in the semi's) than a jury friendly song. So therefor there weren't a lot of jurybaits in the semi's to begin with, so they all went to Switzerland in the final Edited May 12, 2024 by *Tim

Anthinos Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 I'm happy for Switzerland because they haven't won for decades and Eurovision is coming back to a German-speaking country. However, I feel sorry for Croatia and I also think the current voting system is problematic. I am not against juries. I do believe that we need juries. Especially smaller countries like San Marino and Malta have difficulties to qualify and would benefit from juries. The problem is that juries often favour one country. Last year Sweden, this year Switzerland. Personally, I find it very strange how much unity there is. Switzerland was good and deserved to win the jury, but with so many points? It's time for a new voting system. 9

Finland and Estonia this year weren't even top 10, and they're the most jokey acts we've had in a while For real. Y'all need to stop calling Käärijä and Baby Lasagna "joke acts" just because they perform fun Industrial/Eurodance songs that millions of people enjoy. 6 5
velocity Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 tbh i'm kinda tired of the narrative that having fun and entertaining acts cheapens the contest. people who don't respect eurovision for what it is won't suddenly be swayed that this is some serious classical music event. just because something is fun or 'jokey' doesn't mean it cannot be well produced music or artistry. and nobody has been tuning into eurovision for classic, serious music in decades. people follow because they want to hear good music and be entertained. i'm not opposed to having some sort of system in place that ensures that even less 'popular' countries or countries without big diaspora have a chance. but if you have a jury where clearly something is going on in the background that's causing everyone to mass vote one artist you're cheapning the experience for the audience who is finanicing this show. what's the incentive for me to vote or follow along if other musicians get to decide the fate of the contest. then i might as well watch any other talent show that is not financed with my money 6 4
Imagine Dragon Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 (edited) The fact is that there was not a single joke act that won during the televote-only era. Edited May 12, 2024 by Imagine Dragon 2

Imagine Dragon Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 So, 5 editions in a row (since 2019) haven't been organized in a capital city, which is a historical record for Eurovision. I would bet Switzerland would continue that trend.
byzantium Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Are y'all still complaining about the Juries when the Juries were the only people this year making sensible decisions and saved the ESC? 2
Imagine Dragon Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Countries with a 100% qualification rate in the 2020s: Armenia Finland Lithuania Norway Portugal Serbia Sweden Switzerland Ukraine Out after this year: Belgium Moldova 1
