As long as israel is at the bottom of the barrel at the end of the countdown I'll be fine. Haha well i would replace Greece with Ireland for the top5 . Ireland and Netherlands can fight for that #6 spot
shark_heather Posted May 8 Posted May 8 https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGeQuW5jE/ Is it just me that Angelina is getting lost and the dancers are adding to the performance COMPLETELY NOTHING ?

No I agree, it's the difference between a cute Top 5 and a win tbh. She needed no dancers or gimmicks. 1
mike_int Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Even not necessarily something I would listen in regular day, Croatia had the most catchy song and the live performance and production was top notch. You could really feel the energy from the arena. Personally I don't understand who would deliberately wants to listen Ireland song, yes the show was great however it is a song competition. Half of the song is screaming without any melody. If it was part of some theatrical play, OK but not for ESC. Pity Azerbaijan didn't qualify, the song was not the strongest but the melodies and instrumental were beautiful.

That's why the songs are performed LIVE and in a televised enviroment... If not... you would make a MTV Top20 kinda show and call it a day. I'm sorry that you don't like the song... I didn't pay attention to it until this week... But she sings PERFECTLY, and the stage presence... the lighting, the dancing, the pitch, the message of the song, her own persona and even the make up is spot on.

I watch ESC since I was young teenager, like from 2004 I think and yes I agree it is not "only" about the song but for me personally - because Im here to share my personal and subjective opinion - for me the song itself is the most important. It is still called Eurovision SONG contest after-all. Where and who will play Ireland entry from commercial point of view? Like will you decide to put the song in your playlist etc? Thats whats important also for me in these songs. In any case, dont think they will win but will end up high in televote and thats fine ;) The beauty is also that everyone likes something else, it would be boring otherwise ;) 1

Or the Portuguese winning song of 2017? Or even easier example.... the 2006 finnish song? 1

shark_heather Posted May 8 Posted May 8 As for Croatia yes the crowd went crazy but it makes sense since it was no1 in the odds for months , we all know is a eurovision fan favorite What i noticed was that the crowed was super loud with a lot of performances ( Cyprus for example that its a complete outsider ) On one side i would like Croatia to win so we get also next year fun bops , on the other side im not crazy about Baby Lasagne . He reminds me too much of a combination of 2 past entries ( if u know what i mean )
mike_int Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I dont know anything about Benjamin Ingrosso, I knew him cause of "Dance You Off" and I came across "Kite" earlier this year (which I liked) by chance but this was an amazing interval act. 2 1

I was really entertained by him too. It was giving stadium act for sure and he's barely 26. And I know this is TV, but the random zooms they kept making into his face were not it.

Despite not something I would listen on regular day Im already looking forward to see it on Saturday. It was definitely highlight of the night I was very surprised Cyprus qualified, one cause of being first and second because the staging and costumes were pretty basic, almost like something out of 2005 but the song was good and it is a typical pop-girl ESC song. The only thing I would change is the song structure. Singing part in chorus "Take a look at yourself 'cause that's what you need to do, to do 'Cause the only problem in this room is about you, 'bout you" should have been sung twice in each chorus and doesnt cut into instrumental dance part right away
shark_heather Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Btw the crowd was super loud yesterday I hope we get to hear from them the "Soy más zorra todavía" from Zorra 1

Steve Jobs Posted May 8 Posted May 8 1 hour ago, Anthinos said: To be honest, I personally didn't notice it The EBU's reaction is overdramatic. We all know that Eurovision is not apolitical. The EBU has no problem with politics as long as it fits into their ideology. I don't understand how the EBU can be so heartless. The history books will not forget it. Very much so. No matter how much I love Eurovision, EBU is a trash organization that deserves to fail. Turning a blind eye to atrocities just so they don't lose a membership fee and a sponsor. Trash.
Steve Jobs Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Europapa used to revolt me but it's grown so much on me, i'm basically a fan now.
Eric. Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I really liked that the Big5+Sweden get to perform in the semis too. I didn't think they were gonna place them in the middle of the participating songs, but it worked out in the end.
