Fevesy Posted April 9 Posted April 9 (edited) Sick of this *** William, glad that his book signing in London FLOPPED and got cancelled. Wiwibloggs is an actual plague at this point. Let's not forget that Cinan was attending preparties last year and then begged for money to go to Eurovision. There is way better ESC fansites out there but they were just in the right place at the right time to have the success they do. I also loathe that William/Deban gets to sit on NF/internal selection juries often - it's so cringy Also doesn't William work for the BBC? Now sister don't bite the hand that feeds you.. Anthinos Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I like Deban and his honesty. I understand that not everyone likes it but I like it when youtubers react to songs/performances and give their honest reaction. I think Deban is funny. William annoying and Cinan okay. 3
EnterTheAttic Posted April 9 Posted April 9 (edited) Eurovision statement about the Israeli hate train Edited April 9 by EnterTheAttic Forgot something
Solaria Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Extremely hypocritical statement considering they've not taken any responsibility at all over this matter. Israel was allowed FOUR rewrites of the song while Belarus was kicked out after two. They were not even formally announced on their social pages but they instead just quietly dropped the video and hoped no one would notice. The president of Israel literally got involved with KAN and forced them to participate to further fuel Israeli propaganda. So much for 'United by Music' and the so-called 'apolitical' nature of the contest. The EBU has blood on their hands and is complict in genocide. They deserve to burn 6

They deserve to burn Belarus was not kicked out by the EBU after two tries. They were given an additional opportunity to rewrite/submit another song after their second submission, and chose not to - they let the March 15th deadline pass without submitting a third song. Then, in June 2021, they were kicked out of the EBU after their autocratic government created a (Hamas related, ironically enough) bomb threat on a Ryanair flight in order to arrest a dissident journalist. Without EBU membership, they are not allowed to participate in Eurovision. People are allowed to be angry about Israel's participation in the contest without misleading people with false equivalencies. 3 1
Hurem Posted April 9 Posted April 9 EBU is not ready for the mess that is gonna happen in Malmo, and I just hope no one gets seriously hurt. That being said, despite all their mental gymnastics, they are still looking very stupid. They're attempting to justify Russia's exclusion from Eurovision 2022 by claiming the EBU membership suspension as the main reason. However, the EBU actually disqualified them from Eurovision one week before officially suspending their membership. They should at least try developing a PR spin that isn't easily debunked with a quick Google search 2
Green Tea Is Green Posted April 9 Posted April 9 That statement is just gonna make it worse lmao I feel bad for the artists but people are doing what's right, pressuring those likely to do something is the only way and its been the only thing that got a reaction from the EBU after all these months All these artists need to do is come together and threaten the EBU/their broadcasters, it's not too late 1

Hurem Posted April 9 Posted April 9 From what I heard, SVT has been pretty vocal behind the scenes about not wanting Israel to compete, but EBU has always shut them down, not allowing any type of discussion about the issue. It's more than obvious EBU won't let Israhell go considering their biggest sponsor is Moroccan Oil (an Israeli company), so it sucks that artists have to be the ones to take the heat instead of the EBU, but then again, had more broadcasters come together, like they did against Russia, maybe EBU would have budged. EBU and broadcasters deserve to be dragged, not the artists (except that Iceland hag)

I'm sure Alyona Lanskaya was the one who threatened. Edited April 9 by Pendulum
Pendulum Posted April 9 Posted April 9 RUSSIA AND ISRAEL ARE TWO NATIONS THAT ARE COMMITTING GENOCIDE AS WE SPEAK. NO IFS, NO BUTS. ENOUGH. 2 1 1
Pendulum Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Belarus 2021 was kind of a camp bop if you think about it 1 1 1

The EBU supports independent media, and had to respond when the Belarusian government attacked press freedom via their arbitrary arrest of an independent journalist. This led to the expulsion of Belarus from the EBU, preventing them from participating in future editions of Eurovision. All of that is in addition to BTRC being the media propaganda arm of Lukashenko's government, which attacked and condemned the mass protests that took place against the government in 2021. The same government broadcaster concurrently submitted two pro-government songs that specifically belittled and demonized the protestors, culminating in their refusal to submit a third song/rewrite when given the option to. As they chose not to submit a new song by the EBU deadline, and after already committing to participating previously, their "disqualification" was self-inflicted.

Okaaaay but isn't KAN pushing propaganda and cosigning rockets that are shot at Gaza??
ZIVERT Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Mind you, Belarus' broadcaster announced immediately after this interview aired that Val were disqualified from representing Belarus in 2021 because they "don't have a conscience.”
ZIVERT Posted April 9 Posted April 9 1 minute ago, Pendulum said: Okaaaay but isn't KAN pushing propaganda and cosigning rockets that are shot at Gaza?? KAN is the Israeli public broadcaster, and reports on news relevant to Israel, including the war. I agree that reporting on signing rockets is distasteful, but it's not an exclusively Israeli thing… for example, there were fundraisers in Ukraine allowing people to pay for messages to be written on missiles used to attack Russian soldiers. Azerbaijan and Armenia constantly push "propaganda" meant to villainize the other side. There are countries at war, countries that have political disputes, and their media reflects that. Holding Israel to one standard that's different from everyone else is a slippery slope. Ultimately, KAN is independent of the government, and was actually targeted by Netanyahu for its reporting. The difference with Belarus is that their government didn't accurately reflect the situation on the ground, and aggressively worked for the government rather than the people. The EBU has said from the beginning that none of their rules have been violated by KAN, but the fanbase has collectively put its head in the sand and decided that there is some deeper conspiracy that doesn't actually exist. That being said, I think people are more than welcome to protest Israel's participation in the contest. But I agree with the EBU message that bullying artists (among other insidious posts I've seen online, such as hoping for a terrorist attack in Malmö) crosses the line into harassment territory, and should stop 1

Funhouse Posted April 9 Posted April 9 The EBU basically admitting that Israel's participation has brought the contest into disrepute but not doing anything about it is... an interesting strategy that will certainly add fuel to the fire
Lil Mxnster Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I have never replied or quoted @/Eurovision tweets but I think it is about time to drag and spam them Palestinian flags because they cannot be that f***ing morons
