Europapa still doing +/- 500.000 streams per day is crazy. Almost 14 million streams in total on Spotify alone.

Such a joke

Is it me, or this year the competition is REALLY strong? And also most of them are 90s/00s party anthems? I usually don't stan more than 2-3 songs, but this year I'm stanning like 15 :jonny6:

The rumored Armenian song is not hitting for me in the studio, but I can see it doing good with the right staging

Now sis.. Europapa is as much of a joke as Zari is. It is quintessential happy hardcore which at this point is traditional Dutch music.

Uhn it really isn't. Not lyric-wise, not aestheric-wise, not music-wise.

You can tell that Europapa sent out a joke entry just by the way they present themselves.

The lyrics are literally about his deceased father.  Joost lost his parents during his teens. Joost is a jokester and troll-ish marketing is certainly a part of his brand but Europapa is genuinely not a "joke" song by Eurovision standards. The music video aesthethics and the music are typical Dutch affair as I said.

Europapa is a tribute to Joost's father. Through the song, the artist informs the listener that there are no limits if you want to make your dreams come true and tell your story. The tune is a madcap mix of melancholy and happiness, delivered with the poetic lyrics and catchy beats for which Joost has become renowned.

According to Joost himself:

"'Europapa' is about an orphan who travels throughout Europe (and beyond) to find himself and tell his story. At first, people don't recognise him, but he goes on seizing any opportunity he gets to let himself be seen. 'Europapa' is a tribute to my father. When bringing me up, he passed on to me an expansive view of the world"

What's a joke is the troll-like video from Greece. LIKE, we still STAN but "you can tell that Greece sent out a joke entry just by the way they present themselves."

The only real "joke" entry is Finland tbh. Estonia is just quirky lmao.

Joost has been releasing music and music videos like that for years so it's authentically him.

Spoiler

Netherlands is higher in my ranking than Croatia:suburban:

Thank you for informing me about the background of the song!

The video is a sarcastic take of how foreigners perceive Greece while also tackling the stereotypes we have grown up with.
