Worst interviewers in entertainment/pop culture?

Recommended Posts

I'm gonna go with Jimmy Fallon and Zach Sang.

Jimmy just prompts artists to tell a bunch of stories that he's been fed beforehand and then fake laughs at every single thing that comes out of their mouth. There's no depth to his responses or proper follow up questions, it's just a lot of "wow", "amazing".

Zach is such an ass lick and it's really clear that he hasn't researched most of the artists he interviews. He's also very guilty of the vapid responses.

The guy who does AM interviews is kinda hard for me sometimes, I feel like he's pretentious lol.

Agree about Zach, I hate when interviewers just praise their guests.

I would not say Zach Sang the interviews are almost an hour long and they got pretty in depth on discussions.

Zane Lowe? He is yeah but at least he somewhat has the knowledge to back it up. If he's interviewing someone it's clear he's at least made some effort to research them and listen to their music.

Zane Lowe. He is always kissing everybody’s *** to an uncomfortable point and always wants to kinda victimize the person he interviews / finds ways to full a segment about mental health

Also Charlemagne and Angela Yee. They are never prepared and tend to ask very intrusive questions and never make it about the music

Oh they're terrible. Charlemagne is always looking to start a fight, I have no idea why anyone (especially women) goes on the Breakfast Club. It's not like the listeners are going to check out the artists out after they've been mocked and humiliated for the last 45 minutes :rip:

I feel like most of the people mentioned so far are actually good :skull: Zane Lowe, as pretentious as he may be, always goes really deep and Zach Sang usually creates a very welcoming atmosphere for artists themselves to open up about their project and you can usually get a lot out of his interviews as well. Even if you don't like the ass kissing, it just works.

Ellen is terrible at both making artists feel comfortable and getting any good tea about the music

they are actually very unprofessional and rude. i dont like the vibe of that show at all its just ways to get under the artists skin and passive agressively humiliate them indeed

Ellen was awful. She talked so condescendingly to people that she was interviewing and clearly made a lot of them uncomfortable by making them do or talk about things they didn't want to.

Maybe you just had to be there. Iconically messy.

Say what you will about Zane Lowe he’s always very educated on his subjects and his knowledge of musical history is pretty unparalleled among other interviewers of the age.

He does his research with some of his guests, but otherwise you easily can tell he's just being a pretentious kiss-ass, especially when he's forcing a certain narrative on the person he's interviewing (which will most likely involve a tired tangent about mental health). And it's even more cringe when the guests try to go along with it. I just find it hard to believe he genuinely give a sh*t about half the people he interviews beyond a quick scroll through their Wikipedia page. He may not be the worst but I find him insufferable.

Oh...sweet summer children. I don't vibe with some of the current radio show hosts like Charlemagne, but if you want to cover the worst interviewers in entertainment, you'll have to go way back into time...

It's the way I thought the compilation was already nearing its end only for it to be not even halfway through. :rip: To think this creepy behaviour was so normalized at the time...

Her interviews with Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Lisa Marie Presley, and Rihanna were beyond uncomfortable to watch and have become infamous for the unprofessionalism and intrusive nature displayed by Sawyer.

she's hilarious though. even though she's so insensitive, she always asked questions that no other person would have the shamelessness to ask. her interviews with whitney are so funny.
