Ed Sheeran extends his flawless run of chart-topping albums as – (Subtract) debuts at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart.

The singer-songwriter’s sixth studio album becomes the fastest-selling album of 2023 so far, shifting a mammoth 76,000 chart units in its opening week, with 71% of its total made up of physical copies and a further 10% on digital downloads. It’s also the best-selling vinyl album of the week.

Subtract also sees Ed edge ahead of The 1975 in the list of acts to have reached the summit with all of their studio albums, now boasting six to the latter’s five. Prior to this, Ed celebrated Number 1 success with + (2011), x (2014), ÷ (2017), No. 6 Collaborations Project (2019) and = (2021).

Elsewhere, Nines’ Crop Circle 2 holds steady for a second week (2), as Manchester rapper TUNDE claims his first-ever Top 10 album with debut First Lap (4). Former Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan also secures a first solo Top 40 LP with his first studio release The Reckoning (17).

Post Malone sees The Diamond Collection leap 11 places to a brand new peak of Number 15, as he kicks off the UK and Ireland leg of his Twelve Carat Tour, including two nights at London’s O2 Arena.

Following the much-anticipated announcement she’s to release a fully re-recorded Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) album this July, the original iteration of Taylor Swift’s third studio album Speak Now rebounds into the Top 40 for the first time in 13 years today. The LP is up 54 places to Number 23 this week, with the record having originally peaked at Number 6 upon its release in 2010. In total, Taylor sees six of her albums enjoy a position in this week’s Top 40.

I don't see Dua debuting so big at all. Olivia is a big question mark while Taylor will clearly do it.

olivia got a big vinyl week with sour. If the era has a decent start she can make easily 100K+ in my opinion (then if people totally forget about her i don't know :chick1: ). Sour made 51K.

Dua i think could (also with vinyls sales being very big right now). Not 100K + maybe but like 80-90K.

Wait this is actually decent. Not as good as his previous albums mind you but not awful.

Didn't FN do something like 34k first week? That would be a massive jump... Only Adele and Ed Sheeran (until now) do those kind of numbers. Anything around 40-50k would be what I'd expect from her

well the album went from 34K to 700K.

If she has a strong first single it's definitely the moment for a peak like that. Now or never.

Not even 15k SPS... this gonna tank hard next weeks.

The downward trajectory of his career is surprising but beautiful! Didn't think I'd see the day where Lord's career was so much stronger in the UK than his.

In 2017, Divide sold 432K in 3 days. reputation sold 84K in a week.

In 2019, the No. 6 Collaborations Project debuted with 125K. Lover debuted with 53K.

Now, Subtract does 76K and Midnights does 204K.

I guess because he's Lord's friend, not mine. Hope that clears it up!

These are terrible numbers for Ed here

Taylor might be able to outdo this with Speak Now TV

Red TV debut with 72k with 30 songs & All Too Well literally being everywhere, Speak Now will include less tracks

Is not imposible but I don’t think that SN will outsell - 1st week at the UK

Speak Now was a huge flop in the UK

Red was basically her comeback here, so people were already familiar with it. I think with the new fans she’s acquired it will be like a new album to many people and outdo Red TV but we’ll see.

His previous album did close to 140k. He's truly over.

He could’ve done worse for sure but it’s still not good. Reminder he used to sell more in the UK than US. He had exceptionally strong debuts, I mean, Divide did 672K…

On another note, Midnights back to top 5. Anti-Hero up to #22 (+2) :clap3:
