First Charli had a sell-out era and now Janelle as well? As long as this is a bop i dont mind. + she looks amazing Edited May 10, 2023 by KatyPrismSpirit
kandicha Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 i kinda like the snippet on its own but i don't know if i like the direction of this album

ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted May 10, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted May 10, 2023 This sounds better than Float but something about janelle + sellout just doesn’t work. She’s a nerd! She’s eccentric! It feels like it is taking away from her best qualities.
Price of Fame Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 very confident that this album will continue her downward trajectory quality wise. but she'll always have the archandroid, not everyone can say that
Taste of Honey Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 If someone told me back in 2010 that she would serve this one day I definitely would not have believed them.
kyliefever2002 Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 we basically have the full song now https://www.tiktok.com/music/Lipstick-Lover-7226519905499351042
Sabandija Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 This snippet made me think it would be some kind of RnB ballad. It reminded me of an early Beyoncé. Too bad it sounded so much better than the real thing.
Hector Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 A chill summer bop, but nowhere near her best. And wow at the video
Sabandija Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I guess the entire album is going to have this feel... She looks so fine in the video.
masochizm Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 her decline in quality is absolutely insane. this **** STINKS.
Armani? Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Surprised this didn't even enter Apple Music R&B Top 200
Theshigo Washidu Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 This isn't bad, but it definitely feels weird to see her making this kind of music and the social media antics she's been on. It all seems below her.

kandicha Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 the song is okay but i'm very worried if this is the best the album has to offer that said, she looks so good in the video
Karla Cabello Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 (edited) i never liked her music. she always seemed to tryhard, but that album cover is gorgeous. i love it. and the song is cute too Edited May 12, 2023 by Karla Cabello
Jay L Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Wait I love this actually much better than Float but I can see why people would be divisive about this sound from her. I like her trying more mainstream sounds, as long as it sounds fresh and interesting. Float was already dated on release lol so I hope the album has more to offer.
Slap Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 I can’t help but feel Janelle has significantly declined in the quality of their output. I have really enjoyed all of their studio albums, but this song is so basic and the lyrics are cringe, it’s fine but it’s not unique or creative at all. It feels like fame and money eventually really changed them. That said I will keep checking for them but this and Float suck, it just feels like they ran out of ideas or something? Janelle’s last album and Yoga were a great examples of how they could do a more mainstream sound while still maintaining their essence as an artist.

politeone Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 The music video was insane,my goodness This entire album will probably be reggae inspired, judging by the end of Float and this single. I'm probably in the minority but I enjoyed Float immensely, fun and catchy and overall a positive message. Also I loved it's production, a banger tbh. This one isn't up there, but I don't mind it and hopefully it grows on me

NumbSoul Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Unpopular opinion, but this is actually a really cute summer bop MUCH better than Float!
