What can the barbs do? :biblio: Didn’t they leave Nicki’s last single for dead?

I’m an ONMH and am absolutely not trying to gas the barbs up but if Cardi flops again I would not be surprised if they turn twitter against her/make her the new laughing stock and that’s curtains for a “one era wonder” like Cardi currently is. Nicki is already doing the most, retweeting all of her “iconic” looks since this video went viral :skull: I know Cardi is coming back mad as hell as she should be

Twitter isn't a real thing and if it was some of these female rappers and R&B singers would be SMASHING so...

Also, Cardi did a chat last month with her fans and said the same thing about the album ("it's coming") so she has been saying this for awhile now.

This single will makecor break it.

Either give her back the success she had or will officially make her a fad..

Idk y i have a feeling she learned a lesson and is going ti releaae a BOP.

A really strong feeling

she hasnt really been flopping though. hot **** was appropriately titled because thats how we all feel about the song lol and the remix of despecha was unnecessary because we could've gotten an original song instead

Hot **** really never should have seen the light of day. She better come correct this time and have the album ready for release 2-3 weeks after with WAP and UP as bonus tracks

twitter picks and chooses who to cancel but it can work. saweetie and iggy are perfect examples.

I agree but her last hit was two years ago.

are we not considering tomorrow a hit? that was released last year. yeah if she hadn't gotten pregnant back to back we'd be in a different space right now

that song did well but it wasn’t a juggernaut streaming hit like Cardi’s Up or WAP. Tomorrow 2 also only went #9 for one week. But yea, that was a moderate “hit” at best

HER last hit

So no i dont consider it.

There's a difference when she's a feature and when she releases her own stuff

I might be wrong here but I feel like even though Cardi doesn't post chart achievements as often as Nicki does, she actually cares deeply about it. So much so that she's anxious to release anything unless it is sure to smash. "Hot ****" tanking despite the big Ye feature probably sent her back to the drawing board and delayed her album release. Nicki, on the other hand, is more focused on her own delivery (lyricism, flows) than on the actual song so her songs don't immediately sound like radio smashes. SFG was a hit but it is clearly one of her weakest tracks lyrically. It also helps that Nicki's fanbase is much bigger and more organised so they send anything she releases to the top 10, so Nicki never had to worry about chart placements.

Baby, the song was only a hit because of Cardi. It's HER hit too. HER verse made that song pop more cause the original was doing nothing.

Anyways, people always question if Cardi will have another hit and it's weird. She has enough. She really doesn't have to prove herself with hits. She has to prove herself with quality. And if the music is good, Cardi really has nothing to worry about. Hot **** was a mild hit - she did what she did with that garbage ass song. It's up when she releases a banger.

It’s not that simple. There are many factors at play. If we are referring specifically to Nicki’s promoted singles (i.e. with TTH placement), they’ve all had high chart peaks. DWHAP debuted at #2, SFG at #1, Princess Diana at #4. The fact is that if Nicki actually promotes and her fanbase rallies together, a top 10 is usually on lock. But sometimes, if the song tanks on streaming because it’s not promoted enough (e.g. no TTH placement), the Barbz stop pushing it. RRDS debuted at #13 and Bussin debuted at #20 with no TTH and very little radio, something which all of Cardi’s own singles have had.

She's payola'd songs. They lack longevity. She and her fans only care about peaks. She's not a chart threat to someone who can get a top 10 without making her fans clock in to put in work like they're making money off the song. She'll NEVER be a threat to someone who can get a top 10 without having to send her fans money. Stop making excuses. People are still talking about T2. Cardi didn't have to send her fans to work for that either. No one has done what Nicki does, in terms of gaming the charts, so again, she's not competition to anyone. And quite frankly, her 40 year old ass shouldn't be trying to keep up with Cardi.

If she was that successful, that album would've been out. There's a reason she got a greatest hit instead of an actual album, even with a #1 right there. Cause she's chart manipulating fraud.

Never said Nicki was a chart threat to Cardi. My point is that chart success is not a guarantee for Cardi and that’s obvious from the fact that she has had singles that didn’t do well. As a matter of fact, Cardi has only had 2 solo songs reach the top 10. The same goes with Nicki - her chart success is never guaranteed.

And chart peaks do matter. Only internet fans care about how many weeks in the top 10 a song charted. To the rest of the world, a #1 song is a #1 song. You can deny it all you want but Cardi’s single rollouts are often much better planned and organised than Nicki’s. She quite clearly has the bigger budget for music videos and for Spotify playlisting. Only reason Nicki doesn’t need to do all that is because the Barbz are enough to sustain her (even if it’s for a week).

Literally every female artiste experiences a decline in their careers with each successive album (unless you’re Taylor Swift or Beyoncé). Nicki has already put out 3 studio albums all of which did decent. She’s really got nothing to prove.

I'm looking forward to this album. It's taking its time and should have been released already but I'm still here for it
