Pop Emergency: Ed's new album debuts with 15.9M streams; only 3/18 songs charting

That is absolutely atrocious.

The public has forcibly rejected him.

Aaron better make a new album with Taylor quickly so he can pay the bills.

The +x/-= era is good in its beginning, he used to be the blueprint for indie music and now he is a former shell of what music he used to produce. I hope he can stop trying so hard to pump out music continuously and start to understand what people attract to his music in the beginning. + and x are good albums though. I feel like with Shape of You is when he got overplayed and people started to get sick of his music. Not only that he doubles down and gives us the mess that is bad habits (The Weeknd ripoff) :deadbanana2:

His releases all became a blur, but I have a feeling he stopped caring a while ago and just wants to put out music

isn't he notoriously chart and sales obsessed?

who's the It "pop songwriter boy" these days?

This has to be the biggest decline I've ever seen? This is Ed Sheeran we're talking about. What happened :deadbanana4:

Another pop boy Bieber has outlasted :heart2:

but idk what Ed was thinking with these slow ass songs when summer is coming

i heard Eyes Closed like once playing in public. there's like no hype from his single to carry over for the album...

his lawsuit had more media coverage

It will. His album is estimated to do 80k units first week or even less 💀

80k units is an overly generous estimate

I hate to say it, but it seems that the positive reviews for the album are due to the goodwill he's had from that frivolous lawsuit.

Same would have happened to Justin if not for Scooter

So many pre release singles Justice had until they could make sure what's gonna stick

That’s sad… the album is actually great

Well I guess Eyes Closed will still be pushed it could become a cute hit

 Holy was a gospel track featuring Chance The Rapper, who was getting dragged up and down social media at that time, and it still has 714m streams on Spotify

Without pure he is obviously doing way less, but idk how you would estimate those. They are always a complete wildcard

I like Ed and he has some good bops but this is what happens when u start chasing hits instead of great records.

His debut is flawless and oozes artistic integrity and then he started selling out immensely. That said, Divide was actually the perfect blend of commercial sounding hits with great indie tinged pop rock records or arena rock pop songs...he should have stuck to that instead of going full radio candy

He has released too many songs and oversaturated the market.

Opening numbers won't be good but if the album will have stability, good for him. If not, he'll release another commercial album. People were too happy with Afterglow's floppage and look what happened with Bad Habits and Shivers. Still, he will outsell all of your faves in UK.  :fan:

His new single will probably push the album sadly. Its kinda catchy.

TANKED & PANNED

Curious to see what shameless tactic he's gonna pull to cover this

Charlie Puth i guess

The album is actually good and not annoying like his others.

Its sad what happens to artists that never nurtured a strong fanbase. GP will drop an artist if they don't keep delivering hits.
