Abolish it and what is england left with? Rain? They are part of a society and life in the uk. In a funny way, they've kept the nation sane.

I've always found it interesting that the national anthem is entirely centered around the monarch.

Is there really nothing else to sing about aside from that this family were born to reign? :rip:

I might have voted wrong.  Either way, abolish it. The mere notion of maintaining much less defending a nobility in the 21st century is absurd.

We can't just press a button and suddenly end the monarchy. Lots of legislation would need to be done. The monarchy has way too much power right now. Perhaps it could someday when most citizens are on the same page, but not anytime soon. As long as they still have the people, the government, and other nations behind them, nothing will change, unfortunately. Thousands of people are still showing up for the royal family today and believe in the tradition of continuing the monarchy in the UK. Tons of UK citizens attended the coronation just to support them. It was interesting to see, because I thought they were losing so much popularity like everyone online says? Clearly that isn't the case and doesn't seem to be stopping them in any way.

It should have ended with Liz, the whole thing has just turned into a circus.

Most of the people are older generations. Young people generally aren't supportive.

Yeah ending the Monarchy is not as easy as people on the internet think

first off they would have to change the name of the nation, the flag and the national anthem and let’s not talk about the legislations

literally everything about the UK would have to change

And the monarch is also the reason the commonwealth is United if the monarchy disappears it would be a disaster for the Uk in political and economic aspects

That's not 100% true that taxpayers are paying for the royal family if you read about it. The royal family is the richest family in the country with shitloads of estates and some of the most popular tourist attractions in the country

Yeah I know that but they do receive an income from the state which, as you say, they really don't need. If they could self fund I wouldn't care about them.

I know Charles wants to "slim down" the monarchy in some capacity so it will be interesting to see what that looks like. They definitely don't need all those extras

They donated those said estates to the state

What “forced, woke mentality” are you talking about?

Like being overtly politically correct in an annoying manner. The whole world doesn't have to be like that just cause we are in the US
