Which book shall i read before season 2 starts? i just finished the trilogy s1 is literally only like the first half of the first book (wool) stop reading after jules goes out to clean if you don't want to get spoiled. the show does a way better job with the worldbuilding, which was a bit shocking to me, lol. speaking of the books & spoilers - if anyone read the trilogy, i want to know what you thought of the ending!! 1
Musicmajor Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I finished season 1 yesterday and starting 2 right now! I am HOOKED.
Kayhan Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Pretty underwhelming episode for a much anticipated season. They should've released at least ep 2 too 1
Scandalous Posted November 16 Posted November 16 decent first ep but not much really happened, i expected more of a banger 1
ainadalkaz Posted November 17 Posted November 17 reading the books was a bit of a mistake on my part, they are really dragging it out in the tv show but ep1 was excellent, exactly what i expected
stochastic Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Whew time flies. Forgot about the premiere until I saw this thread being bumped. I hope this season delivers but I've been burned numerous times on sophomore seasons. I've anxious about how this and Severance will navigate and not turn into a Westworld clusterfxxk

There are three, so we should be SAFE from bad writing and free-hand material until then! 1

Do you think I should wait? I know they're moving at a very slow speed show wise. I feel like I can read them and still enjoy the show but I also am enjoying not knowing where the episodes are going in which case maybe I should hold off. Or maybe I just watch season 2 cold and then dive into the books after since it'll be a long time before the next season. I don't know, just thinking out loud lol. Curious your opinion!
ksmith Posted November 21 Posted November 21 On topic, I enjoyed the first episode. I agree it was a bit lackluster and nothing really happened but I felt the ending was effective enough that it made the slow burn worth it. Really curious where things are going to go. Don't totally care about flashbacks to when she's a kid. Not that it's bad or anything, it just doesn't really interest me and I don't really care all that much.

Phoenixstar Posted November 22 Posted November 22 I didn't know we have the thread for this amazing show. Okay thoughts on: S02E01: Bit filler-ish tbh, but seeing those dead bodies, like damn. The way it ended was so weird. S02E02: Ugh another lowkey filler episode But the way he spun that story, he was smart for that. Spoiler Pretty sure Bernard knew that there are other silos out there, but he was not expecting to see those dead bodies. Now why the good sis Meadow wants to go out? Does she know something?
flower moon Posted November 22 Posted November 22 i dont see how ep one was filler or lacklustre at all like we see Spoiler a whole new silo and what happened to everyone in there, never mind some back story of the main character thats so much new info. anyway, ep2 was fine.
chromatico Posted December 5 Posted December 5 I didn't even know this show existed until a week ago and now I'm hooked! binged the first season in a heartbeat and just finished S02 E03 Spoiler I find Solo's character really fascinating for some reason but I have a feeling he won't be around too long Also not them just casually dropping the fact that there are 50 silos lol I thought about getting the book series but also want to enjoy the show without knowing where it goes, so might just wait for now. I'm assuming that the first book covers seasons 1 & 2, so guess I will wait until the end of S2. But yeah all in all this show ticks all my boxes so far, even though mid season 1 was kinda dragging a bit
stochastic Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I really should have waited a few weeks so I could have binged these episodes. I couldn't care less about these auxiliary characters nor her flashbacks. No one has the gumption to challenge the status quo except Jules, so nothing is compelling currently. The next best characters are already dead (Allison, Holston, George). We're all just waiting for the guillotine to come down on Bernard, Meadows, and Sims. I know I'm not in the minority. There is a huge disparity between the audience score (62%) and critics' (96%) on RT.
ainadalkaz Posted December 7 Posted December 7 (edited) e4 was really good, i actually did not expect meadows' storyline to go this way tbh - but i'm also a bit slow lol (slight book spoilers below!!!) Spoiler as soon as she said that she wants to go outside i thought they'd give her bernard's book storyline - then again her going outside wouldn't happen until the finale, so actually maybe it's good that they didn't drag it out for so long. and that means bernard might end up where his book counterpart ended up at the end of the 1st book Edited December 7 by ainadalkaz

The first season was excellent, but this season's focus on the auxiliary characters just feels like a way to slow down plot momentum.

ainadalkaz Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago i literally started clapping during that lukas/bernard scene Spoiler i was caught off guard a bit because i didn't expect it even though it was a pretty big storyline in the book lol. they like to keep book readers on their toes! it felt a bit more organic than it did in the book too i'm happy with these developments but the silo 17 storyline is SO SLOW. there's so much that needs to happen before the finale renewal is great news, i'm glad they get to finish the story, but how the hell are they going to adapt shift and dust in two seasons-
