That’s true, but I think Taylor is an anomaly. Seeing how straight women and other demographics have dropped so many females artists like Kesha, Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lady Gaga (for the most part musically), etc.

my female straight friends are actually very rap, reggaeton oriented, their go to are it girls like Dua, Karol G or Rosalia but not Gaga, Katy or Britney or other niché pop girls

Artists like Taylor, Selena, Ariana, Olivia, Billie definitely have a prety big straight women following. Whether they're loyal or not I'm not sure (other than the straight female Swifties they're LOYAL as hell )

i think taylor (and lana to a degree) atract straight female crowd because of their relatable songwriting, which all the other girls you list lack

Yeah this. They tell stories about women prospective so this is why straight women are loyal to them.

 

Gays are more interesting to the "pop show" of a pop girl. This is why they can skip artists like Katy at some point, when their "pop show" Is not cool anymore. 

I think for example most gays skipped taylor during lover era. 

 

Gaga is very particular and appealing to queer people so gays are really loyal to her.

People are able to remember their adolescence and early adulthood the best, even into old age (it’s called the reminiscence bump). People are thus very fond of / nostalgic for things from that time that helped form their identity. Many gay men latch onto pop girls even before they come out, and they do the whole “_____’s music saved my life” type thing etc. It’s not surprising that we are so loyal.

I think the target demographic among most MPGs are still straight women/teenage girls in most cases. I just think the difference between them and gay men is that gay men aren’t as likely to support straight male acts the way women do. There’s also the fact that women are just more likely to create a family compared to gay men. This is also why gays are more likely travel the world and whatnot (on average). They just have more time on their hands to support their habits and interests than women who (over time) invest more of their time and money into their families, which also forces them to be more PG rated as opposed to gays who are more likely to have no qualms whatsoever when it comes to their favorite explicit/controversial female acts (like Madonna)

Miss Lana was CARRIED by the gays from 2015 to 2019 tho. The girls only liked Born to Die and some tracks on Ultraviolence, NFR kinda revived her for the female audience but I’m pretty sure only the gays are streaming her last albums too. Taylor is a really special case, probably because she was huge much before she gained a significant gay audience with 1989, even to this day her gay audience is not that big, she has little to no appeal to gay men for some reason (especially the older ones). But she’s not the only mega female star with a small gay audience: P!nk, Adele and Céline Dion can relate too and none of them need it, so they are the exception

I think most straight men have the same love for their favourite men in sports too so gay men obsession with female artists is not a surprise. And most girls are loyal to some or the other female artist too

Nicki's fanbase is not just comprised of gay men. There are actually tons of women that listen to her music, and black women in particular were fans of her since the very beginning. Look no further than YouTube and you can find straight men that are at least casual fans of Nicki's music as well.

 

Goodluck with that "loyalty" you speak of. Because the gays will literally drop you over a haircut.

I don’t think so! Women definitely still support their favorite artists even when they have a family or get older. See almost all male artists and some women like Beyoncé, Shakira, Taylor Swift, P!nk, Madonna until Hard Candy… the girls never dropped them.

Taylor fanbase is extremely loyal be it straight or gay it doesn't matter with her

 

I know many straight men and women alike who love her music and they will always listen to her no matter what.

 

For some reason , even if they don't like some of her songs they never drop her. So she is safe regardless

You see those artists are so popular because they have so many female fans. Artists like bebe Rexha, Ellie, marina, Charli etc only have gay fans

are you a gay man ? (if i can ask you).

In this case i think you should tend (as we always do) to judge what is around you as universal. I can tell you i have a lot of female straigth friends and they follows lana since first album and they never abandoned her.

 

In which universe taylor has little to no appeal to gay men?  I would say 50% of her fanbase especially global is made by gay men, while straight girls here in Europe are more into men (styles, sheeran, bieber).

Not to the same extent. Like I’m talking to the mentally ill cases where people are stuck in time. Like the for every 30 something year old Britney stan you come across on the internet, how many of them do you think are married women compared to single gay men? Same thing for 40-50 something year old Madonna fans.

lana has tons of female fans from the start and celine has a lot of gay fans too
