With money you could literally transform yourself. Couldn't tell some of my relatives when I went to visit them in the middle east. It's like buying new skin/faces/bodies. Not to  mention the fact i got lost in their mansion, literally   kept saying I was at the parking lot when the cars were all THEIRS   had to play it cool

Modern or not, being born wealthy has always been a cheat code for everyone.

 

Besides, with a lot of money, you can easily pay your way into mimicking (very efficiently) societal norms for beauty at the time.

 

A lot of the basic muscled white men y'all worship on here have a dedicated chef that cooks them meals conducive to muscle gain, and a fancy private gym that their expert trainer comes to.

Rich (and famous) people are seen as beautiful even if they're ugly (you have people telling you doctor strange actor and Tom hiddleston are hot ..as talented actors I can understand they have charme, but they are not beautiful)....

 

So if you're rich you can be beautiful if you want. At least you're not like ugly ugly ugly you can became attractive if you want.

For example a non-white celebrity who had looks equal to Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston would not be wildly seen as attractive like those two
