Is this the most iconic album cover by a Pop Girl this century?

No but it’s definitely a serve :clap3:

although it gives me “Physical” 80s workout vibes and I wish there was at least one song on the album that reflected that…..

The back to back setups :rip: Definitely one of the best of this year but Kesha’s new cover is better.

the Xtina sneak :deadbanana2:

I’m not a fan of hers but Stripped is iconic tbh

maybe from that month?

Xtina's Stripped album cover alone is more iconic given that, you know, it was recreated by Selena and Demi for their own hit albums.

It's not a sneak when Stripped's album cover was literally remade by Selena for Revival and Demi's Tell Me You Love Me:rip:

Tbh I always wondered if this album cover was also inspired by Stripped. The pose and placement of the text are very similar.

Before you get triggered, the photographers have worked with both.

Isn't Mimi meant to be a throwback to 70s aesthetic because of the album's Motown roots?

The way I was so unprepared for the OP being that. Like I mean it's good, but I just don't see it that way.

My first thoughts were Born to Die, Beyoncé, and The Fame, honestly.

Can’t be iconic if the album flopped. :rip:

K bye for now, Sunshine. <3

Mariah Carey's The Emancipation of Mimi cover is nostalgic af and genuinely a great cover. Just by the cover, you can tell Mariah was absolutely in her second (or third, depending on how you look at it) prime. And when we all bought CDs, it was cool having "The Emancipation of Mimi" on the spine of the CD.

Even the "Ultra Platinum Edition" cover of TEOM is great and maybe is the best Mariah Carey album cover.

Endless Summer Vacation has good artwork, but best of the century? The year? No for both.

I wish there were a way to ban obvious setup threads created only to get the artist dragged.

You’re obsessed with Miley, her impact!

Is it not a reference to one of Madonna's Sex Book images?

As per Selena and Demi's own words:

She quickly went on to talk more about that racy photo, which she described as a "beautiful representation of where I am" and said that her upcoming LP (October 9) was inspired by Christina Aguilera's Stripped album, which also featured the singer topless on the cover.

Her chief concern, of course, became Tell Me You Love Me, which Lovato described as “definitely more mature and more raw” than her previous work. “I really tried to have my own Stripped,” [Demi] said, citing the album in which Christina Aguilera, one of her biggest influences, successfully revamped her image from teen to a sexually empowered adult, as announced by a topless, black-and-white album cover, which in large part inspired Lovato to shoot her first black-and-white album cover, too.

See what happens when you're iconic as Stripped is? Right now to the black-and-white filter. Xtina mothering just two of her many daughters. :gaycatina1:
