  1. Social isolation: White Americans may be more likely to experience social isolation or disconnection from their communities, which can increase their risk of suicide. This may be due to factors such as changes in family structure, geographic mobility, and job insecurity.

  2. Access to lethal means: White Americans may have greater access to lethal means of suicide, such as firearms, which can increase the likelihood of completing suicide.

  3. Mental health stigma: There may be greater stigma associated with mental health issues among white Americans, which can prevent individuals from seeking help and lead to increased feelings of hopelessness and despair.

1. This is interesting considering White Americans are more likely to come from 2 parent families, although I realize that's not everything when it comes to social connectedness.

2. Although White Americans are 1.5x more likely to own firearms, the suicide rate is higher for Whites for all methods.

Comparing Whites and Blacks, it seems Whites are about

2.14x more likely to commit suicide by firearms

2.3x more likely to commit suicide by suffocation

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db450-tables.pdf#3

3.0x more likely to commit suicide by poisoning (ex overdoses?)

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db450-tables.pdf#4

3. Do you think White Americans are less likely to go to a therapist than other races? Or is it more about being less likely to go to friends/family for help?

I work in the health industry based on my experience I will say white people have less people to turn too with mental health issues. There family structural support system  is weaker in general compared to to poc especially Hispanic/latino and Asian families. White people have a higher chance of isolation and have trouble finding emotional support.

hispanic and Asian families even with dealing with single parents or mental issues someone can easily find someone with the family to talk too and and watch each other out. Even black families have a stronger support system as someone said before suicide is taboo in the black community but even black families have a strong family structural support and are more social compared to the average white person. Even with single mother many black women for example have a strong bond with other women and can watch over each other and the kids.

Because there's more of them? idk

That's already accounted for, these are suicides relative to the size of each demographic group. If we were looking at the absolute numbers the difference would be much larger still.
