As if people have paid attention to Britney's music since 2000 :deadbanana4:

and people are paying attention to Taylor's music without speculating about her exes? Name one person who genuinely listens to a Taylor song without wanting to know if it's about an ex or not

Only on atrl do you have people actually seriously discussing Britney's merits as an artist, it's wild :bibliahh:.

Which is quite funny since her career has been a string of one artistically void album over which she had no artistic control after another artistically void album over which she had no artistic control :deadbanana4:

This is the woman who employed Myah Marie, after all :bibliahh:

Taylor is better than tabloid fodder, though, in a way that Britney is not and has not been since 2004. Has there been any relevant discourse about Britney since 2003 that didn't have to do with who she was dating or what she'd been spotted doing or the conservatorship? Taylor had a period (2009-2012) where a lot of her press was based around the men she dated or Kanye, but by the time 1989 rolled around in 2014, her music and her personal narrative was what drove her fame. Even when she was making music about personal tabloid drama (ie LWYMMD), most of the conversation was still about the qualities of the music and the video, and not about what had happened with Kim/Kanye.

:priceless:

What's being discussed in this article is literally what Swifties were discussing when reputation came out. Her celebrity status, dresses she wore, men she dated, symbolism, etc etc. Songs like I Did Something Bad, LWYMMD, This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, were ABSOLUTELY 100 % used to discuss the Kimye drama. Even Lover's opening track still discusses the Kimye drama.

Stop denying already that Taylor is no better than Britney when it comes to being tabloid fodder. It's just not true, I'm sorry to break it to you.

Well considering that Anti-Hero, Taylor's most recent hit (and a song that's already more successful on the Hot 100 than any Britney song ever), is unambiguously about herself with literally zero references to any potential boyfriend or exboyfriend, I'd imagine that there are quite a few people who have listened to a Taylor song recently without wondering if it's about an ex.

First half of their career Britney is bigger

Second half of their career Taylor is bigger

But overall Taylor has bigger career nobody can deny this

Name one person :rip:, sure, let us just go door to door to her 80 million+ daily listeners or the 200 million people who streamed midnights first day and ask each one of them individually why they listen to Taylor :toofunny2:

It's embarrassing to compare these two really. Meanwhile Britney remains as an icon, half of her career has been about whether she can make a comeback or not.

Oh wow, the poll reflecting reality for once is a nice thing to see.

Taylor is bigger in literally every possible metric that there is. Yes, that includes impact and celebrity status, as well.

I will agree that Taylor is often tabloid fodder. The point I keep making up and the point you keep ignoring is that Taylor's entire career is not built around or dependent upon her being tabloid fodder in the same way Britney's was. Genuinely speaking, what can you say Britney is famous for that didn't come from the tabloid coverage of her relationships, her mental health, or her conservatorship? Taylor is, at the very least, known for her artistic output (like folklore [an album that's outsold every Britney album this side of Oops...], which is literally not about Taylor at all) and her songwriting prowess.

These people seriously think Blackout is the best pop album ever created and think Femme fatale is listenable, and then you actually sit down and listen to the albums only to discover the most generic, soulless, dated, writing camp'd music ever created :rip:.

Still a better album than anything Britney's team has created for her :toofunny2:.

I love how they're convinced that Blackout is secretly the most influential album of the 2000s even though no one has heard anything from it aside from Gimme More :deadbanana4:

If that were the case... why has evermore already out-consumed it :deadbanana4:

Reputation as bad as it is still has more artistic than all of Britney discography

I think Britney surpasses Taylor in regard to having very well-known iconic moments such as the snake in 2001 and the Madonna kiss in 2003. These images are well-known in popular culture by the masses. I think Taylor's lore is mostly known by her fans and not as much by the wider public, despite how big of a fanbase she may have.

Both have had lots of hit songs and are very prolific, but Taylor's career achievements surpass Britney's overall from my perspective. She's been consistently extremely popular for a long time. So to answer the question: Taylor.

Ahh yes a song called I Did Something Bad is artistic

Britney's career is more comparable to that of Paris, they both peaked at a similar time, both are referenced equally and both are retired legacy celebrities that are glamorized for their lifestyle.

The reason Britney's music isn't being dissected by fans like Taylor's (or almost anyone else's) is because she has no creative input in her music.

And even though she doesn't sing about her exes people still talk about them. Likewise Taylor could write about anything and her exes would still be brought up

Taylor Swift is the most successful female artist in history. Nobody has the outstanding longevity she had and keeps having.

Britney’s peak and impact on pop culture can’t be understated, but her career was cut short by mental health issues and terrible choices made by her abusive team.

This implies that you think something can only be influential when a lot of people heard about it or it immediately reaches the mainstream.

Britney has had the bigger peak, but Taylor wins overall due to her longevity & consistency.
