                                                                        A2K (America 2 Korea) 

 

 

 

 

 

JYP Entertainment, Republic Records, and Federal Films have announced the search for the “next global girl group” via a new competition series entitled A2K.

A2K – which stands for America 2 Korea – will see rising talent from the US and Canada compete for the chance to be a part of a new girl group jointly launched by the Korean and US record labels.

 

The show is projected to air in May-June 2023.

Agreed 

she has great charisma. As she is fluent in Korean I hope JYP will put her in a K-pop group instead of the A2K group

I stopped watching after Episode 7. I'm not watching a show where the viewer base actively wants a 12-year-old to debut in America of all countries, hope Lexus and Christina do good in their careers if the group ends up being successful or flopping

do we know if they are going to be promoting exclusively in US or Korea as well?

and imo the age demographic is not that bad since most contestants were 16-17 (iirc) but that 12 year old needs to NOT debut for now

i was about to make a thread about it because i coudn't not find this thread -.- . anyway today is the episode where  JYP pick the final girls for the group! 

i love Kendall. idc she hast to debut i've seen some spoilers on tiktok :(

I really loved all the girls and the show overall but my heart felt so sad after every elimination. Especially for the Cristina and Gina. Cristina was my favorite I think she was the best dancer and looked really good on stage, really bring a lot charisma to every stage she has been its so sad she didn't seen much. And I couldnt imagine how mentally hard it was for Gina and her apologu to JYP made me hate him much more. The group line up and the pre release song dont make sense imo. Isnt this a group for international market? Why its giving talented kaachi? Kaylee looks so young and kendall lacks in so many areas I feel. The favorism towards her was so clear. My final line-up would be

JYP selecting a 12yo shows he still has a dim understanding of the American market. 
 

I was not following his criteria for selections (like he arbitrarily handed out vocal stones for people singing one line). The show's target audience makes no sense, either. The members they selected are not Korean (basic, cutesy features) enough for Korea and not nearly talented or unique enough for America.

 

You can already see it with fans online. They randomly stan Lexus and Yuna who were essentially the weakest ones while complaining about KG all because she's white.

 

They gotta figure what direction they're going but I can tell you now that America ain't it with a 12yo and a cutesy concept.
