She filmed a music video in literal Africa that only included white people. I guess she’s trying to make up for that?

it's about a 1950s hollywood film set...

A 1950s movie that glorifies European colonialism in Africa. Can’t say I’m surprised. :rip:

ATRL continues to serve the most braindead takes possible. Every time you think it couldn't get worse, it does. It's quite impressive, actually.

Like, this is straight up a conservative talking point. "Taylor Swift casts black man in music video: Has she gone too woke?" ... Are you not embarrassed?

Why didn’t she have a black man or trans man as lead in her country eras?

It’s for diversifying her crediential

This thread is very weird. There's nothing wrong with having Taylor having a Black person as a love interest in her videos or shows. There's nothing wrong with her not dating non-white men, which is far better than the fetishizing some of her white celebrity peers have been known to do. There are legitimate criticisms of Taylor's presentation as a popstar and this one isn't it.

Her rehashing colonial tropes for Wildest Dreams is better and actually valid criticism than whatever this thread is. I think she was just ignorant and playing off nostalgia of a time she knows little about in a socio-political context. Mostly just unintentional ignorance.

Like Taylor probably has blindspots on certain issues, as most people do, and an upper-class white woman whose known privilege her entire life is bound to have them, but this is thread has very weird framing. Using social issues to attack or as a drag should really be reconsidered, as much as I dislike some of the lady's stans, there should be a line drawn when the only reason we try to bring social issues is so that we'd make an artist we dislike look bad. Some of the allegations in here are too threadbare and vague to be taken seriously.

BBC just for show

OT: at least she's consistent, she loves British (white) men. the other meaning of BBC  is British Broadcasting Corporation, after all.

As a Taylor fan, yes

Taylor didn't really incorporate POC people as her love subjects in her music video until the Lover era.

Okay ATRL User Thinking Of You named after a white woman named Katy Perry who had a more inauthentic "woke" Era than Taylor did during Lover.

Named after who? :skull:

Taylor was hailed as progressive for including a black man in the Lover music video as her romantic partner.

this answers the question :biblio:
