See, when you do legendary...

And I think the National Recording Registry is the highest honor an American musician can achieve. While it's not as old as the Rock Hall or Song Hall yet, I think it's just as prestigious. It's proof positive that the art you put out has helped shift and shape not only the music industry, but the society and culture you live in and the generations to come. It's the annals of every relevant sound recording to American history. Congrats to Madonna, Mariah Carey and Queen Latifah.

Other musical works entering the registry this year that may be of interest to ATRL:

“Imagine” by John Lennon

“Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin

“Flashdance…What a Feeling” by Irene Cara

“Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” by Eurythmics

Synchronicity, The Police

Super Mario Bros. theme by Koji Kondo

"Gasolina" by Daddy Yankee

So now Janet, Whitney, Mariah and Madge are all in?

If Celine gets in with MHWGO all the 90's divas will be accounted for with their certified classics.

Idk how long for Celine- MHWGO is still side eyed by many critics so she might have to wait a few years despite the song being very much deserving.

yea, at first I was surprised at its inclusion too since it's a lot more recent than the others (apparently the minimal time of eligibilty is only 10 years since release) but then I thought about it and yes, it belongs here. It was the first international Reggaeton smash. Almost all the artists across the Latin diaspora that came after Daddy Yankee have adopted the Reggaeton sound to a degree.

but why her worst album :dies: the song would've made better sense, true blue was when her stardom exploded and during LAP/Blonde Ambition she's become a (controversial) legend .. but i digress, congrats girls.
