Are we surprised

China is like a dictatorship, doesnt allow for Anything else than what they want

Just yesterday I learned that the chosen 15th Dalai Lama, was kidnapped 3 days after he was selected

because the 14th didn't agree to the Chinese Government's decision, and they chose their Own 15th Dalai Lama :skull:

I am super surprised when I see users who defend China, just to put the US down

not even a US lover, but ..for China?! :deadbanana:

They do this on a regular basis.  The CCP will do anything to squash activists and the voices of minorities in China.  I mean, they even threaten Chinese citizens who live abroad by using their family as collateral, which is exactly what North Korea does to NK business people who travel.  China has done wonders for its people over the past few decades and that is not to be downplayed, but it comes at the cost of authoritarianism and what is basically a dictatorship. :rip:

They weren’t even US-style “muh freedoms” type activists, just pointing out that the government wasn’t following their own laws :skull:

Just wait till they start imprisoning everyone who says "Maybe Taiwan is a sovereign country and we shouldn't take them over by killing hundreds of thousands of civilians"

Watch the US trashers on this forum try to spin this positively :rip:

There are literally ATRLers who defend this type of behavior and promote the CCP, saying that the world would be a better place if we all lived under their oppressive ideals.

Uhm that WILL get you arrested, or at least heavily monitored and followed/harassed by police.  It happens to journalists in China today.  You can't even message that to someone with WeChat, they delete messages containing any "controversial" topics and words before it even gets sent.  :deadbanana4:

The CCP, for all the horrible things it does, has actually lifted millions out of poverty and rapidly modernized what was previously an archaic and dysfunctional system in record time.  I'm not attributing this to Chinese style of communism and capitalism, but more so that the government did make good decisions, like free healthcare, affordable higher education, rapid and easily accessible high speed transit, high speed internet, first world electrical and water systems etc, available to people who were previously living in poor conditions.  The main problem I have with CCP supporters is that they think these positive changes happened as a direct result of China being a communist capitalist country, which is incorrect.  The fact remains that individual freedom in China is extremely limited, and the government has oppressed, threatened, jailed, and killed their own citizens to the point that they voluntarily choose not to voice their opinions out of fear except in extremely rare scenarios.
