I'd say shes probably the biggest movie star right now in terms of making people watch a movie just because of her. Maybe along Keanu Reeves and The Rock Absolutely ridiculous to say she’s the biggest movie star with only 2 movies under her belt I wouldn’t even say she’s Top 5, In no way is she comparable to Denzel, Keanu, The Rock, Will, Sandra, Leonardo, Tom, Julia, etc She has potential to be one of the biggest movie stars but she’s not there yet with such a small filmography.

That's kinda how box office comps work Ms. World's Biggest Cinephile Even if we wanna lump in Elvis, which has obvious differences, it's still basically the only better performing drama in recent memory.

The Bohemian Rhapsodies and Elvis' of the world are a bit of a different beast than your average adult drama- HoG, Where the Crawdads Sing, The Whale, and yes, Air. ...that is more of a YA drama than an actual adult drama.

Total gross remains not surpassed as well when it comes to Rated-R dramas.

thetea Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 because people want to see gaga in movies, despite all of the claims that ASIB's success was due to Bradley. but according to the sudden amount of movie experts on this site when HOG came out, HOG barely broke even in the box office making it a flop

Jessie Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 1 hour ago, BlueTimberwolf said: So...the thread title is false. Air spent $7 million on a Superbowl Ad, this isn't some niche film. Yes because there was a concerted push to try and make Air (which did have an R rating) an adult moviegoing hit — 49% of its audience this weekend was over 35 — which is becoming harder and harder to do for dramas at the box office aka not movies like Creed or Elvis. What is not clicking? And Air outdid its tracking numbers so clearly the marketing worked. Hell let’s even breakdown Creed III — of the 69% male opening weekend audience, 55% were aged between 18-34 with only 29% being men aged over 35. The movie was PG-13 and skewed young, so no it’s not really comparable. HoG was noted for being one of the only films to draw out older crowds — 31% of its total OW audience were aged over 45 — who were MIA from theatres during COVID (for obvious reasons). B.O wise it was the best performing movie in that demo throughout the entirety of the pandemic slowdown. And even the first real big swing at a smash aimed at said older audiences still hasn’t topped that gross. There is the difference.
toxicgenie Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 After Joker 2, Gaga really needs to do a solo staring movie to be considered a Main Acting Girl.

Box office comps? PostTrak demo breakdowns? I suddenly can’t read, but Creed did almost $60m. HoG flop confirmed etc
