Snape: 31 vs. 54 (2 decades)

James: 21 vs. 42 (2 decades)

Lily: 21 vs. 33 (1 decade)

Lockhart: 28 vs. 40 (1 decade)

Pettigrew: 31 vs. 43 (1 decade)

Sirius: 31 vs. 42 (1 decade)

Hagrid: 62 vs. 50 (1 decade)

Voldemort: 64 vs. 41 (2 decades)

some minor ones

Myrtle: 14 vs. 37 (2 decades)

Tom Riddle: 16 vs. 23

If you think "blah blah who cares about the adults," the books emphasized many times how because of the war vs. Voldemort, people were getting married super young and having babies because they could die at anytime, so people like the Potters joined the Order right out of high school. And it made them dying so young that much more tragic. James being middle aged in the movie cuts that right out.

This is not what college aged actors look like.

THIS is:

But then again, their age is never mentioned in the movies. Back then, 21yo people would absolutely look like a 40yo person.

Everyone excited for this is gonna be brutally disappointed.

Only a secondary story in the universe would work

Will JKR make bank from this? It's odd how the internet wants to cancel her so bad but at the same time those same people keep making her richer.

Hollywood is truly dead, cause what's stopping them from making a completely different story set in the same universe with different characters and such?

I've seen people say they're scared of the PJO live-action show and I think it might have some truth to it, idk.

I did *******. This is a dream come true. I want everything the way its supposed to be. The movies are great on their own but if y'all actually read the books you'd laugh at them. Especially goblet of fire

And for those of y'all who think prominent british actors are essential....why? They could cast some really talented unknown actors for the roles.

the movies were definition of beautiful gowns, the acting from the younger actors was cringe but even outside of that the problem was the screenplay and the amount of stuff that was cut, like as a fan of the books I could enjoy because it I knew what was going on but all of it post Chamber of Secrets felt so rushed

However HP does not need a remake/reboot in any way shape or form, it's still wayyyyyyyy too early and why would anyone want to be associated with JKR these days

Way too early :rip:

They should've done an original show about a different set of teenagers at Hogwarts.

Sort of like the video game.

Sounds like an expensive woke flop. The movies are perfect and they dont even feel dated. the effects still hold up even

Good movies, disgraceful adaptations.

And when I say good movies I'm being nice because only 1-4 are good movies, 5-7 are just tolerable.

How out of ideas is Hollywood? :rip:

It’s about time for a perfectly adapted series.

I know there’s a divide on this because casting wise the movies did an amazing job, and the original cast would probably be hard to replace so in that sense I can see this going not well.

But a series is what the original saga needed. Faithfully adapting the books without having to cut anything out, and some things having to be changed because of another factor that got cut out.

Also, it’s HBO. They’re currently handling 2 other big franchises: GOT and The Last of Us. These 2 with perfect casting, budget and success. If they treat HP the same way (and not like Gossip Girl, probably Euphoria) this could be big.

I do agree tho that we also need to see projects reflecting other storylines in the universe.

Like some have said, maybe use the Hogwarts Legacy game lore to adapt a series from that, or a a series about the founders of Hogwarts.

A full blown “HPCU” like they have tried to do with the release of Fantastic Beasts but done right. This universe has a lot of potential.!

just completely creatively bankrupt

Where’s the Marauders adaptation Potterheads have been yearning for for DECADES? The original films, albeit a bit neutered, were the best form of conveying the HP story and were heavily responsible for establishing Potter as the juggernaut franchise it is today. Most people would like the WW universe expanded upon, yes, but there’s hardly anyone that wants to see the same story told twice.

Even something in more of a modern setting would likely have more appeal. Sell the ‘life after Hogwarts’ arc with the third (fourth?) generation Potters/Weasleys (James, Albus, Lily etc.), if anything.

The way we should be getting a ******* Marauders era series instead of same old regurgitated **** :rip:

Movies 4-6 are tragic and I'm down for this reboot. We deserve a faithful adaptation.

Whoever is watching this is lining that transphobic lady's pockets. Making this thread should be side eyed too

Back then? HP’s parents lived 1960-1981, not in the 1500s. :deadbanana2:

I would have loved this in 10 years maybe. That said, I wish them an ounce of luck booking that many seasons.

I would have preferred a mauruder story with Harry’s dad and friends all the way up to James and lily’s death.  It’s new it’s fresh and fans want it

why not make a sequel:redface:

Warner Bros have the right over the Harry Potter story. They don't necessarily need to pay her every time they make a new movie or TV show based on her story.

Yeah, people in the 80s literary looked like old people at the point they were 20. Go take a look at your mama's old pics.

Or take a look at this video here: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMYbscsXC/

Not a single person in this video is older than 21.
