Good luck booking Olivia Colman since J.K is still involved, lol. Or any other respected actor.

Nah british actors will absolutely get in line for auditions. Trust me they do not care.

People are really overreacting with this original cast thing :skull: even If the new cast is subpar people will love it as long as it's well directed and focus on more details.

Posted

Not people thinking this is going to backfire on them :rip:

HBO is not letting this flop, especially as they're investing so much money into it. They're definitely not going to struggle finding actors.

JK Rowling also gets money from Hogwarts Legacy and that wasn't an issue for people to consume.

would love this but i don’t see how they can pull it off. the cast and show will face huge endless scrutiny no matter what and JK will give them trouble.

Why do ya'll love to complain so much

If Hogwarts Legacy wasn't any indication the demand this franchise has...

Anyway the movies are obviously way too soon to be remade, the Fantastic Beasts spin off was underperforming so this is obviously the best route to take. We will get to see heaps of cut content from the books that didn't make the movies. Bigger budget (particular for the early movies which didn't have as big budgets).

Like what exactly is the problem? Don't watch if it bothers you so much :deadbanana4: your precious movies will still be there for you to enjoy.

This'll probably be woke garbage, but I'm hoping for the best.

This already serves cancelled by season 3 tea. Even the prequel movies cannot even make it to the big Dumbledore vs whoever plays prequel-Voldemort yet.

JK Rowling executive-producing? :bibliahh:

Will we be watching?

This is so unnecessary, like we already have 8 movies with great casting that people still love. And the fact that JK Rowling is an executive producer :biblio: It's so annoying seeing yet another remake when there are so many amazing book series that deserve a live action treatment whose authors aren't complete trash.

This series has nothing to do with genuine interest in giving people something new or even with consideration how it might impact the franchise longterm, but to milk their biggest property to save Warner Bros Discovery from a disastrous past 12 months, save David Zaslav's reputation from the brink and to help revive the share prices in the hope of selling the company to Comcast on more favourable terms in the near future.

It's depressingly cynical all round. Let's blame a certain someone for completely sinking the first and probably last attempt at a spin-off for the foreseeable.

The plan was to do Cursed Child, but Daniel Radcliffe & co. didn’t want to come back because of transphobia associated with the Harry Potter brand.

Out of desperation, JKR & WB decided to do a reboot instead.

The casting process will be nightmarish as they have an impossible job of matching the flawless cast of the movies and on top of that, many A-list actors will reject the offer because of the transphobic drama that will now forever be associated with Harry Potter.

In short, JKR might always be rich but she will also always be haunted by her own bigotry. And it’s what she deserves. :)

I really feel for the poc kid that will inevitably be cast in one of the major roles and will have to endure years of hate from both conservatives and original material purists

Maybe Harry's and Lily's eyes will be actually green in this one.

Let it die already.

People aren't rewatching because of the dumb ending ...

but they're watching the Spin-Off, so what's your point?

Apparently she owns 50% of the IP and they have to include her as a producer for legal reasons. Apparently they tried to buy her out though but she asked for a ridiculous amount of money they couldn't pay :deadbanana4:

this is awful  :toofunny3:  this isn't going to be good by any means so it's basically just her getting some more money while the world gets a panned hbo mess

My point is that there's no guarantee that this would be a good HP series and could end up destroying the IP for good. This is obviously a cash grab for the studio and there's no love behind it. Like, what is her excuse to remake it this time when she can't even finish the prequel?

The GoT spinoff at least have passionate people behind who want to redeem the franchise, including the author.

they’re most likely going to go with a black Hermione like in C*rs*d Ch*ld, and tbh it’s the only thing of this mess I’m here for

dump this thing in the trash

It's sick and twisted honestly. Just keep the main 3 white and add POC as side characters and teachers. I don't want a literal child to be a victim of mass racist attacks :rip:
