Also I hope this is not A Series of Unfortunate Events mess where the tone of the tv show was super childish and colorful compared to the more dark vibe from the movie :rip:

People just don't care about the world building of this universe. They just want Harry, Hermione, Ron, Voldemort, the School, the lesson and everything.

Hp success is for the characters, not because the saga outside Hogwarts It's original or exciting. It's Hogwarts. It's Harry and his scarf. They love this story.

It's one of the most beloved story of all time. It's the count of Montecristo of the new century for the gp readera. People want that story, not an origin story about some b side character, finally they realized It.

Not when the video game alone made $800 million in its first week for Warner bros.

Knew that they'd retain the film's iconography but seeing it confirmed STILL feels so lazy lol...

This could be good BUT they should have a firm and fresh creative vision including new castle design, logo and music. That they have gone the opposite (business-sensible I guess) route doesn't bode well for a creatively-justified reinterpretation - though maybe all this is placeholder who knows.

Going to be a turbulent casting process for sure though...will be very interesting to see who ends up being attached. Finding the kids will be a breeze but any interested actor old enough to be on social media will 100% have to have discussions with their agent about the career implications of working on a JKR produced show. Like I saw someone suggest Bella Ramsey for this which...is...just...never...going...to...happen lmao

This is going to be the most watched tv show of all time, isn't it

They won't top the movies but I'll be seated

also i have to laugh at people saying the films aren’t that old yet

prisoner of Azkaban onwards still hold up very well, yes, but I’m currently rewatching all the films for the first time in over a decade and lemme tell you… 1 and 2 are BAD. they do not ‘hold up well’ at all. and they stick out like a sore thumb when placed next to the later sequels.

Why are they just redoing the same story :skull:

Hogwarts Legacy works as a game because it doesn't just do the same thing again but takes fun elements from the original books. This is just gonna feel like not as essential as the movies. It's not like they were the A Series of Unfortunate Events/Percy Jackson movies which left a lot to be desired.

Can this series reach the artistry that Alfonso Cuarón did for the films?

Wow so it's literally a remake? I thought it would be a spin-off

This is unnecessary… but I will be tuning in!

Don’t see the point of them remaking the book series this early on. Movies are still kinda fresh in people’s minds. Least they could do is come up with new stories or make a spin off from other characters POV. Also, Just Kidding as an exec :bloo: no thanks.

really someting different from movies.

Anyway it's still Hogwarts. I said what people really likes it's Hogwarts. That's Harry Potter. All the Fantastic beats franchise didn't get people exciting and it's about Dumbledore, about important events for the saga. But i don't think people care about politics and this world of magic, they just like hogwarts, the lessons etc..

maybe a spin off made in the school with new kids could work, it's a possibilty...but how you make something reallly new...at this point is better just the original story than the semi remake ala star wars. People will say it's a bland copy and the original is the true story.

Also it would be strange if the original story only got 7 2 hours movies (with all the narrative choices you have to make it for this reason) while a new story like 50 tv episodes.

You really belive show of this scale will have a new season every year? :bibliahh:  Look at Stranger things or house of dragon. 1 season every 2-3 years is the only realistic option

I hope Harry Potter ends this superhero era though, finally the kids will watch something with quality and will never want to watch another superhero movie in their lifes :sistrens:

I think they are very smart. A reboot/remake had to happen at point. This is an industry.

If you do a TV Series you bring something different. This will be successful no matter what but doing a remake in 20 years on the big screen, everyone would compare : critic and public reception, what is cut or not, etc.

Redo HP on a limited series, faithful for the books and then you can have something new and different from that period as movies. Mini trilogies or stand alone.

The failure of Fantastic Beats is due to 1) after the first one, it's not about the beasts, 2) no one cares about young Dumbledore for an epic movie. This clearly should have been a mini series at the time.

Yeah the logistics will be a mess there's no way in hell they can put out more than 5 seasons in the spam of 10 years. Unless they do it like Netflix did with ASoUE and film all seasons back to back but as I said... ASoUE was a mess so I'd rather than take their time. But at the same time they can't take too much time or the cast will be like 30 when they shoot the final season :dies:

The cast interviews will forever be so awkward skating around the JK questions with PR answers :skull:

this.

Maybe for the first remake an animated series would have been an even better choice.
