Italy Bans English

The draft argues that the widespread use of English in Europe is particularly negative and paradoxical given that Britain has left the European Union.

This is such a weird stance to take. The U.K. left the EU but it's still geographically in Europe and English is a European language. Plus it is an official language of Ireland which is still in the EU. :psyduck:

Instead of attacking other languages, why not invest in promoting Italian itself as a language to use? France has tried the "let's ban English" plan and it keeps failing to work.

Also, we can't deny that while English became lingua franca because of the UK's influence, it has maintained its position because of the US's influence in academia, politics, and media. And in fact, at least in Europe, more and more English-based jobs require American English specifically.

Elect fascists, get fascist policies, what a shocker.

This is so stupid. We need to have an official international language to use when we are traveling and English is the easiest language to learn.

I think their aim is that to use the Italian language where possible. For example, after covid we simply say 'i'm working from home' but in Italy, they refer to WFH as 'smart working'.

So they are using English words even when they are not necessary

English aka the global language will remain unbothered, but hopefully they ban the vatican and corruption next.
